Lubin vs Gausha Boxing Betting

Youngster Erickson Lubin’s decision to eschew Olympic glory appears to have been the right one. Lubin decided not to participate in the 2016 Summer Olympics although he would have been one of the favorites in order to turn pro earlier. That has allowed him to run his record to 22-1 with 16 knockouts at the age of 24, and he is seen as one of the top super welterweights in the world. He is looking to earn another title shot after his first disappointment, but he must get past 21-1-1 (10 KOs) Terrell Gausha first.

For those that are somewhat new to betting on boxing if Lubin is a -400 favorite, that means you would have to wager $400 on him to win $100. Erickson Lubin vs Terrell Gausha Preview

Lubin has looked like an elite prospect from the outset. Six of his first eight knockouts came in the first round, and he was 17-0 headed into his title eliminator fight with Jorge Cota for a shot at the WBC super welterweight belt back in March 2017. He easily won that bout, dispatching of Cota in the fourth round, earning a shot at then champion Jermell Charlo.

Unfortunately for Lubin, he was no match for the experienced champion. Charlo moved his record to 30-0 with a first-round knockout, hitting Lubin with a right uppercut with 20 seconds to go in the round to send him to the canvas. That loss certainly stung, but we have seen Lubin redouble his efforts since that point.

He returned to the ring in April 2018 and he made quick work of Silverio Ortiz, Ishe Smith, and Zakaria Attou in his next three fights, winning all three within four rounds. Lubin then secured a convincing win over Nathaniel Gallimore last October, but he hasn’t entered the ring in nearly a year.

Gausha was an unknown boxer before stunning everyone at the 2012 USA amateur championship. He claimed the title by beating Caleb Plant, but he disappointed in the Olympics, losing a decision in his second round to be eliminated. However, that previous performance stateside led to some buzz surrounding his professional debut that fall.

We saw Gausha move to 20-0 before receiving his first title shot. He faced Erislandy Lara for the WBA and IBO super welterweight titles, but he lost a unanimous decision to Lara in 2017. Gausha bounced back with a first-round TKO of Joey Hernandez in his next fight, but his last fight was all the way back in May 2019 and he settled for a draw against Austin Trout.
