Egidijus Kavaliauskas vs Mikael Zewski Preview

As a two-time Olympian, Kavaliauskas is something of a rarity in boxing. He was always good enough to succeed as a pro, but he wanted to try to win medals for his native Lithuania. The Mean Machine was unable to claim Olympic glory, but he did earn a bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships in Baku.

Not long after the 2012 Summer Olympics, Kavaliauskas headed to the United States where he began his professional career. He won a decision in his first bout, but he scored knockouts in his next 11 fights. The Lithuanian was 17-0 before he finally received a title shot, and he claimed the WBC-NABF welterweight title over Mahonri Montes in September 2017.

We saw him defend that title successfully four times. In February 2018, he beat David Avanesyan by sixth-round TKO, and he won a unanimous decision over Juan Carlos Abreu in July 2018. Kavaliauskas knocked out Roberto Arriaza in the third round a few months later, but he had to settle for a draw against Ray Robinson in March of last year. Despite the setback, he received a hefty payday to take on 35-0 Terence Crawford, and Crawford handed him his first defeat.

Despite his sterling 34-1 record, we haven’t seen Mikael Zewski in many big fights. His first impressive win wasn’t until late 2012 when he knocked out 20-2 Cesar Chavez. However, despite that victory, he continued to fight lower tier boxers, racking up a lot of wins in the process.

His second major fight came in May 2015 when he took on 27-0 Konstantin Ponomarev for the NABF welterweight title at the Cosmo. Zewski lost that bought by unanimous decision, so he went back to Canada to dominate boxers north of the border. He scored four straight wins before grabbing the WBC International welterweight belt against Diego Gonzalo Luque, and he won and defended the WBO NABO and IBF North American titles against Abner Lopez and previously undefeated Alejandro Davila.

Total Rounds Betting

The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds. Total betting rounds odds will be available soon so be sure to check back. Total betting rounds odds is a wager on how long the fight will last. Let’s say if the total rounds betting line is Over 9.5 Rounds -200, that means that if you think the fight is going to go all 10 rounds, for you to win your bet you would need to bet $200 to win $100. Conversely if you wager Under 9.5 Rounds +150, you would need to risk $100 to win $150. As long as the fight did not go past the 9th round, you would win the under.
