David Benavidez vs Roamer Alexis Angulo Preview

It became apparent that Benavidez had all the makings of a superstar early on. His father started training him when he was just three years old, and that early training led to him turning pro at the age of 16.

Benavidez won his first seven bouts by knockout, and all of those were first-round knockouts save one. That led to a title shot at the age of 19, and he made the most of it by knocking out Rollin Williams just before the first round bell to claim the NABF junior light heavyweight title.

From there, he added more notches to his belt with 10 straight knockouts en route to his first major title fight. Benavidez took on Ronald Gavril for the vacant WBC super middleweight title in September 2017 at the age of 20, and he won a split decision to become one of the youngest major champions ever.

That split decision led to a rematch which Benavidez won more convincingly, but he was stripped of his belt just six months later after testing positive for cocaine. He accepted a suspension and took his frustration out on J’Leon Love shortly afterwards with a second-round TKO. Benavidez reclaimed the belt last September with a ninth-round TKO of Anthony Dirrell.

Angulo is considerably older than Benavidez, having turned pro at the age of 26. It took him some time to garner the attention he deserved due to his age, but he turned some heads when he easily dispatched of Dario Balmaceda for the IBF Latino super middleweight title in July 2013.

His record was 21-0 when he earned his next title fight, taking on Rolando Mansilla for the WBO Latino super middleweight belt. Angulo won that contest with a second-round TKO and he defended the belt successfully nine months later with a first-round KO of Evert Bravo.

That led to a major title fight with Ramirez which Angulo lost by unanimous decision. However, he has since won three straight bouts although the last victory was an unconvincing split decision win over Anthony Sims Jr. back in January.

Total Rounds Betting

The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds. Total betting rounds odds will be available soon so be sure to check back. Total betting rounds odds is a wager on how long the fight will last. Let’s say if the total rounds betting line is Over 11.5 Rounds -200, that means that if you think the fight is going to go all 12 rounds, for you to win your bet you would need to bet $200 to win $100. Conversely if you wager Under 11.5 Rounds +150, you would need to risk $100 to win $150. As long as the fight did not go past the 11th round, you would win the under.
