David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade Boxing Betting

Undefeated super middleweights David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade will tangle for the interim WBC strap in Las Vegas on Nov. 25. Benavidez claimed the title with a third round TKO of David Lemieux in 2022 and successfully defended with a unanimous decision over Caleb Plant in March. Benavidez is a -370 favorite on the early boxing line to be the top contender to face Canelo Alvarez for the undisputed super middleweight championship.

A former two-division champion who was the WBO middleweight belt holder just last year, Andrade is looking to get back in the title picture. And a win in this bout puts him on the fast track for a showdown with Alvarez. Andrade didn’t lose his title rather he vacated it by refusing to fight Janibek Alimkhanuly. He also backed out of an interim super middleweight title fight with Zach Parker. Returning to the ring after a 14-month hiatus, Andrade scored a unanimous decision victory over Demond Nicholson in a non-title fight in January. “Boo Boo” opened as a +273 dog.

The 12-round bout for the WBC interim super middleweight title between current champ David Benavidez ( 27-0, 23 KOs) and challenger Demetrius Andrade ( 32-0, 19 KOs) will take place at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. on Saturday, November 25 and will be televised on Showtime PPV.

David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade Fight Preview

Both fighters are eager to prove themselves against top-flight competition but feel they’ve been avoided by some of the sports best throughout their careers. They’ve each done enough with undefeated records to earn more recognition but they’ve had difficulty securing fights against elite boxers. As result both Benavidez and Andrade have been criticized for not having enough fights against better opponents. So, the best solution is to fight each other, which will take place in Vegas in late November.

You don’t win as many fights as these two have without having talent inside the ring. With an 85.2 KO percentage, Benavidez rocks opponents earning the title “The Most Avoided Man in Boxing.” Andrade won the WBO light middleweight title with a split decision over Vanes Martirosyan in 2013. He claimed the WBO middleweight belt in 2018 with a unanimous decision over Walter Kautondokwa then successfully defended five times.

Transgressions outside the ring, however, may have held both fighters back. Benavidez was stripped of his title and suspended for four months in 2018 after a positive substance test. In the same year Andrade was arrested for carrying a handgun without a permit. Despite their suspect behavior the boxers made triumphant returns to the ring. Benavidez reclaimed the title with a TKO of Anthony Dirrell only to have the belt taken away again when he failed to make weight for a scrap with Roamer Alexis Angulo. Benavidez stopped David Lemieux with a third round TKO to win the vacant WBC interim super middleweight title in 2022. In his first title defense 10 months later, Benavidez earned a unanimous decision over Caleb Plant.

For reasons only he knows, Andrade vacated his middleweight title and withdrew from a super middleweight eliminator bout over a year ago. Essentially starting over with a non-title fight against Demond Nicholson in January, Andrade picked up where he left off knocking his opponent down twice en route to a UD.

Bet David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade

Barring a draw one of these fighters is going to lose for the first time as a professional. Being nine years older than his opponent, there’s likely a sense of urgency for Andrade, who already passed up a chance to get in line for Alvarez. With age comes wisdom as they say, and Andrade is hoping his experience and boxing IQ can conquer the younger, more athletic Benavidez. It’s a contrast in styles with the current champ boasting tremendous power, speed and quickness. But for Andrade, his years in the ring not only made him a better fighter but also more strategic. His stamina and conditioning could play a role in the outcome and he’s arguably the most accomplished opponent the champ has faced.
