Fight Preview

In just eight fights Vladimir Shishkin has secured a top ten ranking in the World Boxing Council and a top 15 ranking in the World Boxing Association. He has never fought in the United States and has never been on American television. Shishkin is 27 years old. Ware is a fighter that is not afraid to take the attack and is coming off the best win of his career in his last fight when he defeated the then undefeated Ronald Ellis last February in a ShoBox Showdown.

As an amateur Shishkin made quite the name for himself when he won 301 out of 330 fights. He went pro in 2016 as one of the most highly touted prospects in Russian boxing history. Shishkin is riding a three knockout winning streak with his most impressive win being over Nadjib Mohammedi last October. Mohammedi was a well-respected world championship contender. Following that fight Shishkin began training in Detroit at the new Kronk Gym under the tutelage of Javan “Sugar” Hill Steward. The idea was that training with Steward at Detroit would be the best possible preparation for fighting in the United States. The super-middleweight division is considered to be wide open with opportunity for the right prospect. Shishkin is eager to show American fans what he can do.

“I can’t wait to get in the ring and show the US Fans what I am all about,” said Shishkin. “DeAndre Ware is strong and spirited, but not technically equipped to handle me. I know that I may be unknown to a lot of fans in America, but on August 23 I’ll win them over with my skills, power and exciting style.”

Ware is 31 years old and is a fan favorite due to his style of taking the attack and going on offense. It was that attacking strategy that proved to be the difference in his majority decision win over Ellis. Ware played college football at Toledo and defeated a former Golden Gloves Bronze medalist and 2012 Olympian in the person of Ellis.

“Shishkin is a good fighter,” said Ware. “I respect him just like any fighter that steps in the ring with me, but when the fight starts, he’ll be another obstacle in my way. Fans can expect nothing but excitement come fight night. As you saw in the Ellis fight, I’m here to win and I’m here to fight.
