Artur Beterbiev vs Adam Deines Boxing Betting

It’s been 17 months since light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev last entered the ring. Beterbiev was originally supposed to take on Meng Fanlong in China last March, but that bout was postponed due to COVID. Fanlong was replaced as the opponent in October when he couldn’t secure a visa, opening the way for Adam Deines to challenge for the title. This bout was originally supposed to take place on January 30, but it was pushed back after Beterbiev suffered a rib injury in training. It was moved back again when Beterbiev contracted COVID, but both Beterbiev (15-0 with 15 knockouts) and Deines (19-1-1 with 10 knockouts) are ready to go this time.

These light heavyweights will headline a Top Rank card that will be shown on ESPN and Premier Sports. The main event will get underway at 12 p.m. ET, and Beterbiev and Deines are scheduled to square off at around 3 p.m. ET.

There have yet to be boxing betting odds released for this fight, but Beterbiev is going to be a massive favorite. Beterbiev is unbeaten with knockout wins in all of his professional fights, while Deines has a loss and a draw. For those unfamiliar with betting on boxing, if Beterbiev were a -3000 favorite, that would mean a $3000 wager on the champion would return $100. At that price, Deines would probably be around a 10-1 underdog, so a $100 wager on him could return $1000 if he were to stun the hometown crowd.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Artur Beterbiev vs Adam Deines Preview

Beterbiev was one of the top light heavyweights in the world as an amateur. He won the European Championships in 2006 and 2010, and he also won the 2009 World Championships and finished runner-up in 2007. Beterbiev was unable to win an Olympic medal in two tries, becoming the latest dominant fighter to fall victim to the asinine way the Olympics are judged.

He turned pro in June 2013, and he only needed five fights before receiving a minor title shot. Beterbiev capitalized on the opportunity with a second-round KO of Tavoris Cloud to win the WBA-NABA light heavyweight title in December 2014. The Russian went on to defend that belt and add a few other minor straps for three years until he received his first major title fight.

Beterbiev needed almost the entire time to knock out Enrico Kolling, but he did just that in November 2017 to claim the IBF light heavyweight belt. Kolling has lasted the latest against Beterbiev, as both Callum Johnson and Radivoje Kalajdzic were knocked out inside of five rounds. Oleksandr Gvozdyk put up a challenge, but Beterbiev sent him to the canvas in the 10th round in October 2019 to win the WBC light heavyweight strap.

Deines has knocked off some quality fighters in his career. He beat 11-0 Durmus Keklik in November 2015 for a German title, and he also secured wins against Zsolt Dudas and Lukasz Golebiewski before starting to climb the ladder.

His first big win was a split decision victory over 15-0 Stefan Haertel in March 2018. That helped set up a showdown with Fanlong in June 2019, and Deines lost a unanimous decision with the IBF Inter-Continental light heavyweight belt on the line. Deines hasn’t faced a quality opponent since that loss 21 months ago, beating Josef Lehr in August 2019 and Yevgenii Makhteienko the following month.
