NBA Saturday Opening Line Report

The Los Angeles Lakers are now officially eliminated from the playoffs. For the sixth straight season, one of the NBA’s premier franchises will not make the postseason and that will lead to a lot of soul searching in the offseason. Even the arrival of the game’s greatest player couldn’t change their fortunes, and it seems like that will trigger a major shake-up this summer. For now though, let’s keep our attention on what’s happening on the court in the final few weeks of the season.

NBA Opening Lines at BookMaker.eu

Boston Celtics at Charlotte Hornets (BOS -3.5, O/U 222)

Philadelphia’s surge likely means that Boston will be in the 4-5 series with Indiana, and the Celtics would love to be the 4 to get one more game on their home court if need be. The Celtics have lost two in a row heading into tonight’s game, but at least the dysfunction of the last few weeks has mostly been papered over for now, and this team has looked much better.

Miami Heat at Washington Wizards (WAS -2, O/U 221.5)

This is a tough spot for the Heat. Miami is currently a half-game ahead of Orlando for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, but this will be the second game in a back-to-back. The Bucks hammered the Heat by 29 points in Milwaukee last night, and now they must face a Washington team that is dangerous at home even though they are out of the playoff picture. That’s why the line has moved up a half-point since it opened.

Philadelphia 76ers at Atlanta Hawks (PHI -8, O/U 235.5)

The Sixers haven’t been great on the road this year, and that has kept them from battling Toronto and Milwaukee for the No. 1 seed. Philadelphia is just 18-16 away from the City of Brotherly Love this season, so tonight’s game against Atlanta might be trickier than it appears.

Utah Jazz at Chicago Bulls (UTAH -8.5, O/U 215)

Watch the injury report prior to betting this one. Chicago currently has six players listed on its injury report, and four Bulls are considered game time decisions for this game. Otto Porter Jr., Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine, and Chandler Hutchison have all been dealing with minor injuries, and that has led to the line to move from Jazz -8.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Memphis Grizzlies (MIN -3, O/U 214)

There has been early action on the Timberwolves here. Minnesota was originally favored by 2.5 points, but the Grizzlies will be without at least five players tonight and Mike Conley and Joakim Noah might sit too. Karl-Anthony Towns has been a monster in recent weeks and could have a huge game against a typically stout defense.

Dallas Mavericks at Golden State Warriors (GS -15.5, O/U 225.5)

This is the biggest spread of the day, and one of the biggest numbers we have seen all year. Golden State needs to win this to stay ahead of Denver in its quest for home court advantage throughout the playoffs, and Dallas has a dreadful 6-30 road record.

Detroit Pistons at Portland Trail Blazers (POR -5, O/U 215)

There has already been movement on the side and the total in this game. Portland was originally a 4.5-point favorite, but that number has since moved to 5. The real action has been on the total though. The over/under in this game was originally 216.5 and has since dropped to 215. Detroit has won seven of its last 10 coming into tonight.

Phoenix Suns at Sacramento Kings (SAC -10, O/U 231)

The total has gone up a point since the line first opened, and some sharp action has moved the line off of 9.5 as well. Phoenix has been the worst team in the Western Conference all season, while Sacramento is out to finish the season at .500 or better.
