College Basketball Wednesday, February 8 Parlay Picks

Another 2-1 showing against the college basketball odds made it four straight winning weeks for my Wednesday Night Parlay Picks. Providence kicked it all off with a ticket cash at the online sportsbook after Ed Cooley’s Friars battled enough to secure the cover but failed to get the best of Xavier in OT. The Florida Gators earned us another unit by pulling a wire-to-wire job on the Tennessee Vols to come up with a huge win on their home court. Unfortunately, the New Mexico Lobos struggles in Logan continued after Utah State handed Richard Pitino’s squad an ugly 84-73 defeat to easily cover the College Basketball odds. Another loaded Hump Day card awaits - Here’s to adding to the bankroll once again with a trio of investments to target for Wednesday night parlay cards!

Georgetown Hoyas

I feel dirty doing it as nicely Providence has treated the bottom line all season, but I have no choice but to fade Ed Cooley’s kids in this spot against Georgetown. Now the Hoyas have been anything but dominant in Big East play evidenced by their wretched 1-12 SU record, but Patrick Ewing has got his kids playing a competitive brand of ball that will prevent me from fading them in this spot against what’s been a solid moneymaker to this point of the college basketball betting season - even with the Friars also riding a four-game cover streak.

Though winners of just one game in the last six tries, the Hoyas invade Amica Mutual Pavilion having covered six straight which includes staying within the number @Villanova, @Xavier, Creighton, and UConn. Save for allowing 95 to the Bluejays, the defense allowed 71.8 points in the other five games which clocks in 5+ points below their seasonal average of 77+ per game. The Friars will hold decided advantages at both ends of the court as well as on the glass. However, they’ll be laying chalk in the upper teens and that’s simply too tall an ask of them in by book due to their proclivity to turn the ball over (No. 152) and streakiness from beyond the arc (No. 173). Look for Primo Spears and Co. to get us back to the window!

Alabama Crimson Tide

The cream of the SEC crop has bounced back nicely from that head scratcher put forth in the Big 12/SEC Challenge at Oklahoma by taking the wood to Vanderbilt and following it up with a 79-69 win and near cover at LSU. There’s much too like about what Nate Oats’ kids have done with the team looking dead set on earning a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament. While it pains me to fade Florida considering the Gators have procured ticket cashes for us each of the last three Wednesday’s versus @A&M, South Carolina, and Tennessee, it is the way.

I know the Gators defense will show up like it does every passing game, but I severely question whether U of F will have enough firepower to keep up at the other end of the court. Bama comes at you in waves, and Brandon Miller and Co. has proven to be extremely unforgiving when given the chance to turn out the lights. The Crimson Tide is yet to be upended at Coleman Coliseum where they’ve won all five SEC tussles by nearly 30 points a game! Look for Bama’s ability to dominate the offensive glass to tire the Gators defense out early and allow for higher percentage shots to be made later on that allows the home team to cover the near 10-point CBB odds.

Utah State Aggies

I learned the hard way last week that you don’t mess with home court advantage in the Mountain West! I laid the points with San Diego State at Nevada and also took the points with New Mexico at Utah State. While the Aztecs put up the better of the two fights, neither ultimately stood a chance of getting me back to the window to cash either ticket in. I really thought the Lobos had a much better shot to snap their losing streak in Logan than the odds suggested but was proved to be dead wrong. I think this conference is once again loaded with some teams that can add to the Madness that is March!

One of those teams is this Aggies outfit that’s currently in the midst of a heater having won five of six while covering three straight @Fresno State, New Mexico, and @Colorado State. The only loss in that mix just so happened to come against SDST in a game it fell by an 85-75 final count as 7-point road dogs. Even so, Taylor Funk and his mates shot 48 percent from the field and drained 11 3-pointers. The Aztecs shot well beyond their abilities from long range (12/22) and shot 20 free throws to the Aggies 10. USU is yet to be defeated at home in MWC play with Logan no joke for the opposition to contend with. This game will be lined around a pick ‘em but I’d be willing to lay a bucket with Ryan Odom’s troops - Hit the Aggies on the moneyline if dogged!
