College Basketball Odds – Ohio State Buckeyes at Indiana Hoosiers

College Basketball Odds

It’s been a struggle for both the Ohio state Buckeyes and Indiana Hoosiers since the calendar flipped to 2019. OSU was nationally ranked with only one loss through the end of December, but that all changed in a hurry. They lost five in a row to open Big Ten play and have settled down recently with two consecutive victories. Things have been worse on the other side with IU enduring a seven-game slide that ended with a big win over Michigan State. Both are clinging to faint hopes of reaching the NCAA Tournament and Sunday’s matchup will be huge in that regard.

Live Betting Odds Analysis

It’s been a roller coaster season so far for the Buckeyes, who could be getting back in a groove following wins over Penn State and Rutgers. They opened the season with 12 wins in 13 games only to lose their first five once the new year began. And they lost all five of those matchups against the spread as well.

A win at Nebraska ended both streaks before a humbling 16-point loss at Michigan. The Buckeyes bounced back to beat Rutgers and Penn State giving them some momentum heading into Bloomington on Sunday. On the positive side they have won three of four in advance of a critical stretch for their postseason hopes.

The Hoosiers stopped their longest losing streak in eight years by taking down No. 6 Michigan State in overtime last week. They couldn’t sustain the momentum or get their first winning streak since reeling off eight straight from Dec. 1 to Jan. 3 because of a loss at Iowa on Thursday. The Hoosiers are just 13-10 overall and they’ve been a money pit going 8-14 ATS with 4-8 ATS ledger at home.

Player to Watch

Injuries to a number of players have allowed Romeo Langford to take over as Indiana’s main threat. The freshman leads the team in scoring with 17.6 points per game and had one of his finest outings of the season to help the Hoosiers end their recent losing streak.

Langford scored 19 points in a career-high 41 minutes against Sparty, and he had enough left in the extra session to drop one of his two threes that gave IU the lead for good. He followed that outing with 22 points against Iowa with the help of a season-high tying three triples.

And shooting from distance has been a huge part of his game over the last three outings, allowing him to average more than 20 points in that span. Langford has made eight triples connecting on 42 percent of his tries after missing all 12 of his attempts from behind the arc in his previous four games. In his first 20 games of the campaign, Langford hit 14 of 71 three-pointers for a percentage of less than 20.

Injury Report

The Hoosiers got some good news for a change on this front. They will be without Zach McRoberts for another few weeks, but De’Ron Davis and Devonte Green returned from a brief absence to help upset Michigan State. Davis scored 12 points and Green tallied 11 playing for the first time in several weeks. They weren’t as productive against Iowa, though, combining for only seven points off the bench.

Star forward Juwan Morgan also escaped serious injury when a MSU player landed on his shoulder while the two were scrambling for a loose ball. Morgan left the game but he returned against Iowa and dropped 17 points with four boards.

Now that they’ve been back for a few games, we should see Davis and Green feeling more comfortable on the floor and that will help with the team’s depth and overall confidence. And if Langford continues to have success from behind the arc, he could help take the Hoosiers to another level offensively. Both sides have gone from one end of the spectrum to the other this season so it’s hard to gauge them. One thing that sticks out is defense, and the Buckeyes have been better in that area. It’s always tough to play at Assembly Hall, but IU is making it easier for opponents and I like the Buckeyes to continue their recent surge on the live betting lines at BookMaker.eu.
