Women's World Cup Group C Betting

Every team in Group C is looking to win its first World Cup title. Brazil has come the closest, nearly following in the footsteps of their men’s team at times, but they have yet to breakthrough. They are slight favorites to win Group C, but Australia’s women are not far behind them in terms of the favorites to win the group. Those two teams will be picked by most observers to automatically go through to the Round of 16, but Italy and Jamaica will be looking to pull off the upset.

Group Teams Profiles

Australia

FIFA Ranking: 6

World Cup Appearances: 7

Best Finish: Quarterfinals in 2007, 2011, and 2015

The Matildas are looking to break through after getting bounced in the quarterfinals of the last three World Cups. Interestingly enough, they were bounced by Brazil in their first quarterfinal appearance back in 2007, but they returned the favor in 2015 by sending Brazil out in the Round of 16 before losing to Japan.

Lisa De Vanna is one of the more experienced players on this team with 147 caps, and she is likely to end the competition as the player with the most caps in Aussie history. She already has more goals (47) than anyone else on the Matildas. Sam Kerr will be the other forward to watch out for on Australia.

Brazil

FIFA Ranking: 10

World Cup Appearances: 8

Best Finish: Runner-up in 2007

This is likely to be Marta’s last World Cup, and one of the greatest players in history will look to lead Brazil to their first title. In 133 games with Brazil, she has scored 110 goals, and she is one of the few women to pass the century mark in international play.

Brazil has long been the team to beat in South America. They have won seven of eight Copa Americas, and they have an overall record of 41-1-2 in the competition. The Female Canaries’ inability to break through and win a World Cup or Olympic title has certainly been frustrating though. This is a veteran team with tons of experience (especially in the back), and it is likely to be the last international competition for many of them.

Italy

FIFA Ranking: 15

World Cup Appearances: 3

Best Finish: Quarterfinals in 1991

Italy is making its first World Cup appearance since 1999. The Italians have already played eight matches this year in order to get ready for the competition, and they have yet to lose in regulation with a record of 6-2-0 in those matches.

However, Italy has not exactly played the cream of the crop. They have avoided top teams like Brazil and Australia, and instead, they have concentrated on beating the middle of the pack opponents that failed to make the World Cup.

Jamaica

FIFA Ranking: 53

World Cup Appearances: 1

Best Finish: First-ever appearance in 2019

After finishing in third place at the CONCACAF Championship back in October, Jamaica qualified for the World Cup for the first time in their history. The Reggae Girlz have been the class of the Caribbean, but they have not fared well when taking on either the United States or Canada.

Khadija Shaw is a young star, and there’s a very good chance she goes down as the best player in the country’s history. She has tallied 24 goals in 19 matches with the national team.

List of Women’s World Cup Winners

YEAR WINNER RUNNER UP SCORE
2015 United States Japan 5-2
2011 Japan United States 3-1 (pen)
2007 Germany Brazil 2-0
2003 Germany Sweden 2-1 (a.e.t)
1999 United States China PR 5-4 (pen)
1995 Norway Germany 2-0
1991 United States Norway 2-1

The United States has been the juggernaut of women’s soccer since the first World Cup in 1991. The Stars and Stripes have won more World Cups than any other country, and they are the only team to have made it to the semifinals in all seven previous tournaments. Team USA is the only squad to have won a World Cup on their home turf, with Brandi Chastain firing home the winning penalty over China at the Rose Bowl in 1999.

Germany has had the second-most success at the Women’s World Cup. The German women are the only back-to-back winners in the history of the tournament, claiming the title in 2003 and 2007. They made it to the semifinals back in 2015 before losing to the US.

The French have yet to make it to a Women’s World Cup final. France is a recent power in the game, and their club teams are the best in the world. Olympique Lyon has won five of the last eight Champions Leagues, and they have made it to the finals in seven of the last nine years.

Unfortunately, the best player in the game today will not be taking part in the Women’s World Cup. Ada Hegerberg has decided that she will not play for Norway at the tournament, and she has not played for the national team in nearly two years.
