2022-23 German Bundesliga Betting
Death, taxes, and Bayern Munich to win the Bundesliga. At this point, it feels like you can’t make Bayern Munich a large enough favorite to top the table in Germany. They are -650 favorites heading into the 2022-23 season after winning the Bundesliga for the 10th straight season a few months ago. Bayern Munich lost elite goal scorer Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona this offseason, yet they still have vastly more resources and talent than anyone else in the Bundesliga.
Current Champions – Bayern Munich
The loss of Lewandowski stings a little, but the club replaced him with another elite forward in Sadio Mane. We saw Mane thrive under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, and he will have the opportunity to score a bevy of goals at Bayern Munich. The German giants also added other elite players like Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, Rennes forward Mathys Tel, and Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt this offseason.
Champions League Teams – Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, Red Bull Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt
Five German clubs will be playing in the Champions League after Eintracht Frankfurt won the Europa League last season. Bayern Munich is the only club expected to challenge for the title, but we have seen Borussia Dortmund and Red Bull Leipzig contend in recent years. Bayer Leverkusen could give some teams trouble, and Eintracht Frankfurt will benefit immensely from being a Pot 1 team.
Europa League Teams – Union Berlin, SC Freiburg
This is Union Berlin’s first foray into the Europa League proper after failing to qualify during the 2001-02 campaign. It’s taken a while for clubs that were part of East Germany to compete in the Bundesliga, but Union Berlin is making a name for itself. SC Freiburg will be making their fourth trip to the Europa League, and they are hoping to have more success than their three previous trips.
Promoted – Werder Bremen, Schalke 04
The two storied German clubs that were relegated last year are back in the Bundesliga. Schalke 04 was expected to be in trouble for a while due to their financial woes, but the club was able to circle the wagons and earn promotion back to the highest level in German football. Werder Bremen edged out Hamburger SV and Darmstadt by three points to finish in second place in the second tier, and the inclusion of those two teams will certainly make television executives happy.
Relegated – Arminia Bielefeld, Greuther Furth
Greuther Furth only spent one season in the top flight of German soccer. They were clearly outclassed last year and posted a record of 3-9-22. They allowed a whopping 82 goals, and it was obvious they would be relegated early last season. Arminia Bielefeld will join them in the second tier of German soccer after earning just three points in their last 11 matches to fall from 14th to 17th in the table.
Hertha BSC lost a tiebreaker with VfB Stuttgart and ended up in the relegation playoffs. Hertha BSC appeared to be in trouble after losing the first leg to Hamburger SV at home, but they went on the road to beat Hamburger SV 2-0 in the second leg to stay in the Bundesliga.

It feels like we should just auto sim to the end of every Bundesliga season at this point since Bayern Munich will always be the league champion. Bayern Munich have now won 10 straight Bundesliga titles, and they have only been seriously challenged a few times during this stretch. They now have 32 league titles, and no other German team has 10 titles.
