Martinez vs Williams Betting OddsHBO World Championship Boxing will televise Martinez vs. Williams live from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City New Jersey, starting at 10 PM ET/7 PM PST. Martinez' WBC middleweight championship will be at stake when he faces The Ring Magazine's No. 2 ranked middleweight in the world, Paul Williams.

The first encounter between the two was an brutal, entertaining brawl that was a contender for Fight of the Year. It was a back and forth affair that saw both fighters knock each other to the canvas, with dominating moments for each. Paul Williams was able to walk away with the majority decision, and Sergio Martinez has been aching for a rematch ever since. Let's hope the second bout is just as entertaining as the first.

Early handicappers have dubbed the match a pick 'em, with lines for both fighters at -125. Yes, it should be that close. Martinez is the current champ, but his loss to Williams less than a year ago apparently still rings fresh in the oddsmakers' minds. Many fans and media analysts actually felt that Martinez had won the fight.

Williams has already begun mouthing off. "I got to knock Martinez off of the throne, he's sittin' on the throne. He better be ready. He better bring his AAA card, he's going to need some towing up out of the ring." We'll give him some bonus points for the clever AAA towing reference. Williams then goes on to say that he's not trying to be cocky, but then gets cocky. "That's not me being cocky, that's my level of confidence. My fans and his fans are going to get a real good treat."

Martinez' own smack-talking is devoid of such wit. "The rematch is the best thing, not only for boxing fans but for Paul and me. Both of us need closure from our last fight. We need to know that the result is final this time." The 35-year old probably doesn't want to get into a war of words with the brash Williams -- he'd surely lose that battle.

However, Martinez is surely riding high, coming off a masterful performance against Kelly Pavlik. The unanimous decision victory also gave him ownership of both WBC and WBO middleweight titles. He's also coming off a draw against former two-time world champion Kermit Cintron, but he was able to put him on the ground in the fight.

Former three-time world champion Paul Williams also fought Kermit Cintron in his last fight, but the outcome was very different. Williams was able to stop Cintron in four rounds. It was an extremely impressive victory for him, and he'll be looking to ride the momentum going into this title tilt.

Sergio Martinez Achieves Superstar Status With Stunning KO of Paul Williams

For a little over a round on Saturday, it looked like we were going to get another fight of the year candidate from Paul Williams and Sergio Martinez. Then, in the blink of an eye, it was over. After the dust had settled from a stirring knockout, we were left looking at Argentina's Martinez - boxing's next superstar.

Martinez (46-2-2, 25 KO) might be a little late to the party at age 35, but has he ever made a major statement late in his career. His knockout of Williams (39-2-0, 27 KO), along with his points decision over former middleweight king Kelly Pavlik (36-2-0, 31 KO), make him a near shoe-in for fighter of the year.
