Jose Carlos Ramirez is 26 years old and ranked fourth in the world. Ramirez is a native of Avenal, California where he still resides. He stands at five feet, 10 inches tall with a reach of 72 and a half inches and fights from an orthodox stance. Ramirez represented the United States at the 2012 Olympics.

Jose Carlos Ramirez originally won his WBC super lightweight title on March 17, 2018 when he scored a 12 round unanimous decision win over Amir Imam at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York, New York.

Ramirez has successfully defended his championship on two occasions. On September 14, 2018 he scored a 12 round unanimous decision win over Antonio Orozco at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. Following that was a 12 round majority decision win over Jose Zepeda, also at the Save Mart Center in Fresno.

Maurice Hooker won the vacant WBO super lightweight title on June 8, 2018 when he scored a 12 round split decision win over Terry Flanigan at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

Hooker has successfully defended his title belt twice with wins over Alex Saucedo and Mikkel LesPierre. Hooker beat Saucedo in a seventh-round technical knockout on November 16, 2018 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On March 9, 2019 Hooker beat LesPierre in a 12 round unanimous decision at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York.
