There have yet to be boxing betting odds released for this bout, but Jaime Munguia is going to be a substantial favorite. Munguia has yet to lose in his professional career, and this fight was set up for him to make a splash at his new weight class. O’Sullivan has not won a major belt in his career, and he was largely selected for his gaudy record and his style.

To those unfamiliar with betting on boxing, if Munguia was a -2000 favorite in this bout, you would have to bet $2000 on Munguia to win $100 in profit. Those odds would likely make O’Sullivan a 12-1 underdog to pull off the upset, so a $100 bet on the underdog would return a substantial $1200 in winnings.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Jaime Munguia vs. Gary O’Sullivan Preview

Munguia turned professional in Mexico at the age of 16, and he took on all comers from an early age. He won his first six fights by knockout, defeating those opponents in the span of eight months, and he continued to rise up the ranks south of the border with his tremendous power. Munguia ran his record to 27-0 before earning his first title shot, winning the WBC Latino Light Middleweight belt over Jose Carlos Paz by a knockout in the third round at Mandalay Bay.

After another quick knockout victory, Munguia earned his first major title shot in May 2018. He defeated Sadam Ali by TKO in the fourth round to win the WBO Light Middleweight belt, and he had no problem retaining it for his next three bouts.

However, his return to Mexico in April saw him nearly lose to Ireland’s Dennis Hogan, and he just barely scraped together a majority decision win. Munguia left no doubt in his last fight though, beating Patrick Allotey by TKO in the fourth round.

O’Sullivan made his pro debut in January 2008. The Irish fighter largely boxed in his home country for most of his early career, but a victory over Matthew Hall in July 2012 earned him the WBO International Middleweight title and propelled him onto a bigger stage. He won his first title defense 10 months later, but O’Sullivan lost to Billy Joe Saunders by unanimous decision a couple months afterwards.

Following the loss, O’Sullivan largely stayed in the United States, winning his next six bouts to earn another shot at a title. He was stopped in the seventh round by Chris Eubank Jr. in a title elimination fight though, pushing him back to smaller venues.

O’Sullivan beat Antoine Douglas by 7th round TKO to win the WBO Intercontinental Middleweight title in December 2017, but he was knocked out in the first round by David Lemieux in September 2018.
