Saunders has won world championships in two different weight classes and was the previous World Boxing Organization Middleweight champion from 2015 through 2018. Additionally, Saunders represented Great Britain at the 2008 Olympic Games where he reached the second round of the Welterweight bracket. Saunders stands at five feet, 11 inches tall and fights from a southpaw stance. Also known as “Superb” Saunders has never lost a fight as a professional.
Billy Joe Saunders last stepped into the ring when he faced Shefat Isufi on May 18, 2019 for the vacant World Boxing Organization World Super Middleweight title at Lamex Stadium in Stevenage. Saunders prevailed in a 12 round unanimous decision win to take the title belt.
Prior to that on December 22, 2018 Saunders faced Charles Adamu in a bout that did not have championship implications. Saunders scored a fourth round RTD win in a scheduled eight round fight that took place at the Manchester Arena in Manchester.
On December 16, 2017 Saunders faced David Lemieux for the World Boxing Organization World Middleweight title at Place Bell, Laval. Saunders scored a 12 round unanimous decision win in what was his third straight title defense victory.
Marcelo Esteban Coceres is 28 years old and a native of Argentina where he still resides. Coceres stands at five feet, nine inches tall and fights from an orthodox stance. He is currently ranked 44th in the world and has built up an undefeated career record as a pro against what is considered to be second rate competition.
Coceres last stepped into the ring on September 21, 2019 when he faced German Ignacio Peralta at the Club Atletico Huracan, Buenos Aires. Coceres scored a 10-round unanimous decision win to take the vacant World Boxing Association Fedebol Middleweight title.
