WBO World Boxing Organization World Light Heavyweight Title

Sergey Kovalev is 36 years old and ranked first in the world. Kovalev is a multiple division light heavyweight champion that currently holds the World Boxing Organization title belt since February of 2019. Previously Kovalev was World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation, and World Boxing Organization champion from 2013 to 2016. He stands at six feet tall with a reach of 72.5 inches and fights from an orthodox stance. Kovalev resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is a native of Russia.

Kovalev has struggled in recent years with three losses in his last six bouts. Last time out he was victorious in a 12 round unanimous decision win over Eleider Alvarez on February 2, 2019. With the win Kovalev took the World Boxing Organization world light heavyweight championship. The fight took place at The Ford Center at The Star, Frisco, Texas. The win was sweet revenge for Kovalev as Eleider Alvarez defeated him in his previous fight.

On August 4, 2018 Kovalev faced Alvarez at the Mark G Estess Arena, The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Atlantic City, New Jersey in a unification bout. At stake was the International Boxing Association, World Boxing Organization, and World Boxing Organization world light heavyweight championships. Alvarez scored a seventh-round knockout win in the scheduled 12 round fight.

On March 3, 2018 Kovalev met Igor Mikhalkin at Madison Square Garden, New York for the World Boxing Organization world light heavyweight title. Kovalev was the winner in a seventh-round technical knockout in a scheduled 12 round bout.

Anthony Yarde is 28 years old and ranked 12th in the world. Yarde is a native of the United Kingdom and resides there in Ilford. He stands at six feet tall and fights from an orthodox stance. Much like Kovalev, Yarde is celebrated for his superior punching power.
