Horse Racing Odds – Oaklawn Park Big Three Highlights Weekend Action

Saturday will feature four tracks with horse racing action and full cards. Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn Park, Remington Park, and Tampa Bay Downs will be the focus with Tampa Bay Downs offering additional action on Sunday. The biggest races of the weekend will take place at Oaklawn Park. Not one but two Grade 1 $500,000 Arkansas Derby races will be run. Additionally, the Grade 2 $650,000 Oaklawn Handicap is on deck too!

Let’s now take a look at the highlights of this weekend’s schedule from tracks across North America!

Oaklawn Park – Hot Springs, Arkansas – Saturday

There will be 11 races on Saturday at Oaklawn Park. Races 10, 11, and 12 are three of the biggest of the entire year.

Race 11 is the $500,000 Grade 1 Arkansas Derby. Post time is set for 5:29 p.m. ET for a race that will be one and one-eighth miles in length. The race is for three-year-old horses.

Bob Baffert trained Charlatan is the even money favorite with the number one post position. Any time Baffert enters a race there is going to be a full retail markup on the price. It also doesn’t hurt that Charlatan has won both of his previous starts.

Gouverneur Morris is another popular choice at 9/2. Trainer Todd Pletcher is another top draw popular trainer. Gouverneur Morris is coming off a disappointing fourth place finish at the Grade 1 Curlin Florida Derby on March 28, 2020.

Anneau d’Or is a 6/1 choice. He will try to atone for a ninth-place finish in the Grade 2 Risen Star.

Race 12 is the $600,000 Grade 2 Oaklawn Handicap. Post time is scheduled for 6:04 p.m. ET and the race length is also one and one eighth miles. This race is for four-year-old horses and upward.

Combatant is the early chalk at 4/1 with jockey Joel Rosario aboard. Rosario has already compiled a total of over $4.3 million in earnings this year. Combatant is coming off a win at the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap on March 7, 2020.

Race 13 is the $500,000 Arkansas Derby with a post time scheduled for 6:43 p.m. ET and a race length of one and one-eighth miles. This race is for three-year-old horses.

The opening favorite is King Guillermo at 3/1. Last time out for King Guillermo was a win at the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby on March 7, 2020.

Nadal opened as a 5/2 choice for this race. Bob Baffert is the trainer which is always a draw as is jockey Joel Rosario. Nadal has won all three of his starts including the Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes on February 9, 2020 and the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes on March 14, 2020.

Next choice is Wells Bayou at 7/2. Wells Bayou is coming off a win at the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby on March 21, 2020.

Tampa Bay Downs, Tampa Florida – Saturday and Sunday

There will be a total of nine races on the card for both Saturday and Sunday at Tampa Bay Downs.

Remington Park – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Saturday

There will be a total of 10 races on Saturday at Remington Park.

Oaklawn Park – Hot Springs, Arkansas – Saturday

There will be 11 races on Saturday at Oaklawn Park.

Gulfstream Park – Hallandale Beach, Florida – Saturday

Saturday’s card at Gulfstream Park will feature 12 races.
