Also known as the “Krusher” he stands at six feet, two inches tall with a reach of 72 and one-half inches and fights from an orthodox stance.

In his last bout on March 3, 2018. Kovalev scored a seventh-round technical knockout win over Igor Mikhalkin at Madison Square Garden in New York. With the win Kovalev maintained his World Boxing Organization World Light Heavyweight title. In addition to that he picked up the Eurasian Boxing Parliament Light Heavyweight title.
