The international break has meant that there isn’t as much soccer as usual this weekend, but the MLS will have five games to keep our palates satiated. Last week saw some great games as Wayne Rooney notched his first hat trick since joining the MLS, and the goals were coming in droves as there were nearly four goals scored per game in the highest scoring weekend of the season. It will be interesting to see if that trend continues in the fourth week of the year.

FC Dallas -195
Colorado Rapids +501
Draw +333
Over/Under 2.5 and 3
The Colorado Rapids have yet to win a game this season, but a lot of that is a consequence of who they have played. Colorado has faced three of the best teams in the West last year in Portland, Seattle, and Sporting Kansas City. This is a team that has had some problems staying out of the referee’s book though, as Axel Sjoberg was sent off in their first game and Johan Blomberg picked up a red card last week.
FC Dallas have been one of the best defensive teams in the league. They have allowed just two goals in three games, and although they haven’t played good offenses in two of those games (Columbus and New England), they did register a clean sheet against the Los Angeles Galaxy.
This is a series that has historically been dominated by Dallas. FC Dallas have a 23-6-8 record against Colorado.
New York Red Bulls -255
Orlando City SC +598
Draw +406
Over/Under 3 and 3.5
Orlando City are one of 10 teams that have yet to secure a victory this season, and the Lions have not done much to show that this will be the year they finally make the playoffs. Their defense continues to be one of the worst in the MLS, and that has undermined a talented offense.
The Red Bulls are the biggest favorite of the week. They were very disappointing in the CONCACAF Champions League, but they let their frustration out in a 4-1 thrashing of San Jose last week. NYRB fell behind 1-0 early and didn’t get going until the second half, but when they did, it was ugly. The Red Bulls outshot the Earthquakes 23-8 despite having less possession last week.
Philadelphia Union +111
Columbus Crew +233
Draw +250
Over/Under 2.5
Only one team has allowed less goals than the Columbus Crew this season. The Crew’s defensive style has made them dangerous in the Eastern Conference, and they have won their last two games to nil. Once again, the offense has been limited, but Gyasi Zardes and Gaston Sauro have both notched two goals for the Crew.
The Union have been on the other end of the spectrum, and that’s what makes this line interesting. Philadelphia is 0-1-2 on the year with a draw against Atlanta United being the top performance. This line is indicative of how much home field matters in the MLS.
Los Angeles FC -237
Real Salt Lake +552
Draw +395
Over/Under 3 and 3.5
This is a rematch of one of last year’s Western Conference First Round playoff games. LAFC were great in their first year, but they ran into a Real Salt Lake team that was great on the counter and lost 3-2 despite outshooting their opponents 21-4.
LAFC are out to get a modicum of revenge, and one of their stars has risen to become the best player in the league. Carlos Vela has three goals and two assists in three games, and LAFC have eight goals thus far.
New England Revolution -153
FC Cincinnati +381
Draw +307
Over/Under 2.5 and 3
Congratulations to FC Cincinnati for winning their first match ever last week. It was a great debut for Cincinnati as they beat defending Western Conference champions Portland 3-0 in a laugher, and now they are looking to get their first road win. They are hefty underdogs on the road against the Revolution, even though New England has not been encouraging with their performances.
