My first MLS Parlay of the Week didn’t pan out as Minnesota United FC was unable to pick up a victory at home against Toronto FC last weekend. Although the Loons outshot the Reds 20-10, they were somewhat fortunate to walk away with a result as Kervin Arriaga needed to level in the 89th minute for a draw. FC Cincinnati needed a late goal to win too, but their back line took care of business against the Chicago Fire in a 1-0 victory. Hopefully, we have better fortune this week as I’m taking two more home teams.

Inter Miami stole the headlines away from the NHL Stanley Cup Finals and the NBA Finals for a day when they announced that they had landed Lionel Messi. Ticket prices soared in the aftermath of the news breaking, and fans are expected to flock to all of Messi’s matches in the MLS. However, he will be joining a last place team that has won only five of its 16 games all season. Inter Miami is sitting on just 15 points, and the offense has been abysmal with a meager 15 goals in those matches.
Although he wasn’t great during his brief time in the MLS, Inter Miami is missing Gonzalo Higuain’s ability to create something out of nothing. Currently, only two players have more than one goal on the roster, and neither Leonardo Campana nor Josef Martinez has been too impressive. They both lack a table setter in the midfield that can do the dirty work that Messi can, as Jean Mota is the only player on the team with more than one assist.
That is music to New England’s ears. This team is 4-0-3 at home, but there has been some trouble with the back line in recent weeks. They allowed three goals to Chicago and Atlanta United in consecutive games, and those results led to draws instead of victories. New England has an elite attack though, and that should allow the Revs to pick up the win here. Carles Gil is playing well, and Gustavo Bou is healthy once again. To give New England a boost, Inter Miami played a US Open Cup quarterfinal against Birmingham on Wednesday night, so fatigue might be a factor.
It might be surprising that I’m betting against FC Cincinnati after they won for me last week, but it’s never easy to travel cross country. FC Cincinnati may be the best team in the league, but they are just 3-1-3 on the road. As with Inter Miami, they are at a bit of a disadvantage this week since they had to play a US Open Cup quarterfinal in the middle of the week, so that has led to Vancouver being favored in this game per the soccer betting odds.
While the Whitecaps are 0-4-3 on the road, they are a sterling 5-1-3 at home this season. It’s never easy to play in Canada, and this team has a strong attack with Brian White leading the way with six goals. Julian Gressel has been superb with three goals and five assists in his first full campaign with the team, and he continues to be an awesome set-up man during his career.
This is Vancouver’s fourth straight home game, and the Whitecaps should have no trouble taking care of business against FC Cincinnati. They have outscored opponents 20-8 at home over the course of the MLS regular season, so the best team in the MLS will have a tough time securing a result.
