2014 Bank of America 500 Winner- Kevin Harvick wins the 2014 Bank of America 500
Kevin Harvick led 162 laps and survived a wild two-lap dash to the finish after the final caution en route to his third NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win of the season and a free pass into the Eliminator Round of the Chase.
Harvick pulled away after a restart on Lap 333 of 334 and beat Jeff Gordon to the finish line by .572 seconds. Jamie McMurray ran third, followed by Joey Logano and polesitter Kyle Busch.
Harvick had failed to win the last five races in which he had led the most laps, but his victory on Saturday night-his third at Charlotte and the 26th of his career-was an emphatic rebuke to the ill fortune that had kept him out of Victory Lane since April.
2013 Bank of America 500 Winner - Brad Keselowski wins the 2013 Bank of America 500
Brad Keselowski proved once again Saturday night that quality -- and timing -- trump quantity.
Overcoming a loose wheel and a jack that spent a lap under the side of his car, Keselowski won the Bank of America 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Keselowski, the reigning series champion, won for the first time this season, the first time at Charlotte and the 10th time in his career. On four fresh tires to Kasey Kahne's after a restart on Lap 312, Keselowski passed for the top spot on Lap 326 of 334.
Kahne won a drag race against current series leader Matt Kenseth to hold the runner-up position. With his third-place run, Kenseth added one point to his Chase lead over fourth-place finisher Jimmie Johnson.
Kyle Busch came home fourth, one position ahead of last week's Kansas winner, Kevin Harvick, as the Chase reached the halfway point.
Keselowski is the first non-Chase driver to win a Chase event since Kahne accomplished the feat at Phoenix in November 2011.
2012 Bank of America 500 Winner - Clint Bowyer Takes 2012 Charlotte Chase Race
This weekend the 2012 Bank of America 500 featured a fuel mileage win for Clint Bowyer as the Chase separated a little bit more between the drivers with a shot and those without.
There was big news on the driver front this weekend. Dale Earnhardt Jr. skipped the race and A.J. Allmendinger made his return to Sprint Cup competition.
Chasers dominated qualifying with four of the top five spots going to drivers that are battling for the Cup. Greg Biffle posted the quickest time during qualifying in his Ford and started on the pole next to speedy Toyota part-timer Mark Martin.
Ryan Newman and Clint Bowyer made up row two with Jimmie Johnson rounding out the top five.
Biffle chose the outside lane on the start but Mark Martin made his car stick on the bottom and didn't give it up without a fight. Those two remained side-by-side for the lead until Biffle finally got down in front of Martin at the completion of lap five.
Biffle continued to lead the way until Matt Kenseth cut down a tire and spun. Fortunately he didn't hit anything and he was able to get some fresh rubber and continue on.
Biffle maintained the lead through the rest of the early going until point leader Brad Keselowski moved into the lead.
2011 Bank of America 500 Winner - Matt Kenseth Wins; Jimmie Johnson Crashes Late
Matt Kenseth got the first win of his career at Charlotte Motor Speedway, winning the 2000 Coca-Cola 600. Saturday, he picked up one of the biggest victories of his career, taking the Bank of America 500 and taking a big step towards pulling himself into contention to win the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup title.
Kyle Busch finished second after starting last, while Carl Edwards, Kasey Kahne, and Marcos Ambrose rounded out the top-five. Kevin Harvick, A.J. Allmendinger, Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, and Ryan Newman rounded out the top-10 finishers.
Jimmie Johnson's hopes for a sixth-straight title may have come to a halt with possibly the hardest hit of his Sprint Cup career.
Johnson was battling Newman and Kahne for seventh position late when his Chevrolet snapped loose in turn two. He slid down onto the apron before the car snapped back across the track and slammed the wall head-on. The vicious blow lifted the back wheels of Johnson's No. 48 Chevrolet off the track. Johnson took a moment to catch his breath before climbing out of the car.
McMurray gets third win of 2010
Jamie McMurray picked up his third win of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on Saturday night as he won the Bank of America 500.
McMurray started 27th on Saturday night and passed Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson late in the race to get the win. He adds Saturday's win to the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400 to his wins on the season.
Johnson finished third to extend his lead in the season standings to 41 points over Denny Hamlin, who finished fourth on Saturday night. Greg Biffle finished fifth on Saturday night.
