2025 NASCAR Daytona 500 Betting
The 67th running of the Daytona 500 is the first official race of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. The Great American Race is the most anticipated and chaotic event in American motorsports. As we typically see when racing on a superspeedway odds are relatively long even for the favorites. Three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and 2015 Dayton 500 winner Joey Logano opened as the betting favorite with a number of drivers close behind. Starting at the pole last year Logano led the most laps before a late accident forced him and a number of other drivers out of the race. Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney are next on the odds board.
Nine drivers make up the next tier of favorites with odds between 13/1 and 20/1. That list includes notable names like defending champion William Byron and three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin. This is the Daytona 500 after all and as we’ve seen in past races anything can and typically does happen. The previous four winners were all first-timers at the Daytona 500.
Byron wasn’t among the favorites last season and the three winners before him Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (2023), Austin Cindric (2022) and Michael McDowell (2021) all came out of nowhere to win the Daytona 500 proving the old adage that you can expect the unexpected at this race.

With the Daytona 500 the most important and prestigious race on the NASCAR schedule we typically see drivers go all out to get the win. And since the race is also known as the “Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing” I guess it’s only fitting that it comes a week after the NFL’s Super Bowl. With 13 career NASCAR Cup Series wins and finishing second in the season-long standings the last two years, Byron is poised for a breakthrough. He can also become just the fifth driver to go back-to-back at the Daytona 500.
With three Daytona 500 wins in the last nine years, Denny Hamlin has a chance to become just the third driver to win the race four times. Unfortunately Hamlin has been plagued by slow starts in previous seasons and hasn’t finished better than 17th in his last three starts. Once again odds suggest a tight race with more than half the drivers on the board boasting shorter than 30/1 odds.

You're not going to find a more unpredictable race than the Daytona 500, and that's why you see big odds posted to win this race every single year on virtually every driver.
Normally, we see a few teams or a few drivers dominate on certain tracks, but that certainly isn't the case here at Daytona International Speedway. The only two teams that have gone back-to-back at the Daytona 500 in the last two decades are Joe Gibbs Racing and Hendrick Motorsports.

Everyone still chases "The King" at the Great American Race. Richard Petty won the Daytona 500 seven times, and though all records are meant to be broken, it's awfully hard to see this one being overturned at any point. Cale Yarborough has four Daytona 500 victories, and no active driver has won the Daytona 500 more than three times in their career.

Go ahead and think of all the great teams in the history of NASCAR. Richard Childress Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, DEI, Robert Yates Racing...none of those teams have more than four all-time victories at the Daytona 500. Petty Enterprises took advantage of all the non-restrictor plate years to win this race nine times. Hendrick Motorsports matched Petty Enterprises for the most all-time Daytona 500 wins in 2024, its first triumph in more than a decade.

What stands out most on this list of the top manufacturers in the history of the Daytona 500 is that Toyota only won its first edition of the Super Bowl of motorsports in 2016 when Denny Hamlin took his first career 500. That is well behind the American juggernauts that are Ford and Chevrolet.
