2026 NASCAR Daytona 500 Betting
The 68th running of the Daytona 500 is the first official race of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season and takes place on Sunday, February 15 on FOX. The Great American Race is the most anticipated and chaotic event in American motorsports. As we typically see when racing on a superspeedway, NASCAR odds are relatively long, even for the favorites. A total of 12 drivers are listed at odds of +2000 or less, with Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney at the top of the Daytona 500 odds board at +1200, while polesitter Kyle Busch is next at +1400. Starting on the pole has not meant much in this race, as no polesitter has won the race since Dale Jarrett in 2000.
Nine drivers make up the next tier of contenders with odds between +1500 and +2000. That list includes notable names like two-time defending champion William Byron and three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin. This is the Daytona 500 after all and as we’ve seen in past races, anything can, and typically does happen.
Byron wasn’t the favorite last season and the three winners before him Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (2023), Austin Cindric (2022) and Michael McDowell (2021) all came out of nowhere to win the Daytona 500 proving the old adage that you can expect the unexpected in this race.

With the Daytona 500 the most important and prestigious race on the NASCAR schedule, we typically see drivers go all out to get the win. And since the race is also known as the “Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing” it’s only fitting that it comes a week after the NFL’s Super Bowl. Byron became just the fifth driver to go back-to-back at the Daytona 500 with his wins in 2024 and 2025. He will look to make history, as no driver has ever won the Daytona 500 in three straight years.
With three Daytona 500 wins in the last ten years, Denny Hamlin has a chance to become just the third driver to win the race four times. Unfortunately, Hamlin has been plagued by tough starts in recent Daytona races and hasn’t finished better than 17th in his last four Daytona 500 races.

You're not going to find a more unpredictable race than the Daytona 500, and that's why you see big odds posted to win this race every single year on virtually every driver.
Normally, we see a few teams or a few drivers dominate on certain tracks, but that certainly isn't the case here at Daytona International Speedway. The only two teams that have gone back-to-back at the Daytona 500 in the last two decades are Joe Gibbs Racing and Hendrick Motorsports.

Everyone still chases "The King" at the Great American Race. Richard Petty won the Daytona 500 seven times, and though all records are meant to be broken, it's awfully hard to see this one being overturned at any point. Cale Yarborough has four Daytona 500 victories, and no active driver has won the Daytona 500 more than three times in their career.

Go ahead and think of all the great teams in the history of NASCAR. Richard Childress Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, DEI, Robert Yates Racing...none of those teams have more than four all-time victories at the Daytona 500. Petty Enterprises took advantage of all the non-restrictor plate years to win this race nine times. In recent history it has been Hendrick Motorsports that has dominated. They matched Petty Enterprises for the most all-time Daytona 500 wins in 2024 with nine when William Byron won the race and they took over first place with 10 wins when Byron won again in 2025.

What stands out most on this list of the top manufacturers in the history of the Daytona 500 is that Toyota only won its first edition of the Super Bowl of motorsports in 2016 when Denny Hamlin took his first career 500. That is well behind the American juggernauts that are Chevrolet and Ford.
