2022 The Match: Rodgers-Brady vs. Mahomes-Allen
Are you ready for NFL superstars to compete against one another in another golf contest? The 2022 version of The Match will have NFL quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady going against Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. This 12-hole exhibition event will take place at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas Nevada on Wednesday, June 1 and be televised by TNT. The match will be simulcast on truTV and HLN in the U.S. with Ernie Johnson hosting the live telecast alongside Charles Barkley, J.J. Watt, Trevor Immelman and Amanda Renner. Viewers outside the U.S. can watch the event through Warner Bros Discovery Sports channels. This will be the sixth edition of “The Match” and this time around it will not include any professional golfers. Rodgers won The Match a year ago, as he and Bryson DeChambeau defeated Brady and Phil Mickelson. The team of Rodgers and Brady are listed as a 2-1 favorite in the betting odds against the team of Mahomes and Allen.

2022 The Match Odds
The golf betting odds for this match favor the team of Rodgers and Brady. Rodgers and Brady have both played in this event in the past so it makes some sense that they are listed as the betting favorites. The odds opened with the team of Rodgers and Brady listed as a -160 favorite and money has been coming in on the favorite.
Brady and Rodgers have already been trash talking, telling TNT’s reporters, including Charles Barkley that Mahomes and Allen are terrible. “Charles, I’ve done my scouting report,” Rodgers said on TNT. “And I heard that Josh was terrible at Pebble (Beach). And Pat has played the last couple of years in Tahoe and hasn’t broken 80 yet. So, I think he was closer to being in a group with you. No offense.”
Brady has said he will wager any amount that Mahomes and Allen are willing to bet. “Whatever those young guys want to bet,” Brady said to TNT. “I know, I’m probably the lowest-paid guy out there. Well, of course, this time around between those three heavy hitters, but whatever they want, I got action on those guys. Although I would say golf is not my number one sport, it may have a way of bringing out the best in me. I think we’re ready to take on the job.”

The first edition of The Match took place in 2018 and it was Mickelson defeating Tiger Woods in a match that took four playoff holes to decide. Despite the star power, The Match featured poor overall play and technical issues that caused a planned pay-per-view event to be broadcast for free.
The rematch between Mickelson and Woods in 2020 took place in Florida and had each player taking a partner, as Woods was paired with Peyton Manning, while Mickelson played with Tom Brady. Woods and Manning got out to a big lead and held on to win by one hole.
The third edition took place late in 2020 and had Mickelson pairing with Charles Barkley and they took on the team of Manning and Stephen Curry. It was not much of a contest, as Mickelson was the only pro golfer in the contest and his team won 4 and 3.
The fourth edition featured Bryson DeChambeau and Aaron Rodgers going up against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady. The match was tied after nine holes but DeChambeau and Rodgers pulled away on the back nine to win by three shots.
The fifth edition of The Match had Brooks Koepka taking on Bryson DeChambeau. The two had an ongoing feud and it was thought the event would be popular with viewers, but having it take place in the month of November was a mistake. The Match was played over 12 holes and Koepka won four of the first eight holes and the match was conceded on the ninth hole.
