Bet on Texas Children’s Houston Open Online

The PGA Tour heads to Texas in late March for the Texas Children’s Houston Open. The field for this event can sometimes feature top-ranked players who use it as a Masters prep and that is the case this year with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler headlining the filed. Last year Scheffler and Rory McIlroy were in the field and the prep worked well for McIlroy who went on to win the Masters in April. Joining Scheffler in the field this year is World No. 10 Chris Gotterrup who has already won twice on the PGA Tour this season. The Texas Children’s Houston Open has been played at many golf courses in its history including the Golf Club of Houston before moving to the Memorial Park Golf Course in 2020. The tournament had been held the week before the Masters but that changed in 2019 when it moved to the fall. The event moved back to the spring in 2024 and now it is held two weeks before the Masters. Texas Children’s Hospital is signed as the tournament’s sponsor until 2029. Min Woo Lee is the defending champion and he is the third choice in golf betting odds to win the 2026 Texas Children’s Houston Open behind Scheffler and Gottterup.

Catch all of the action at the Houston Open from Thursday, March 26 through Sunday, March 29.

In 2019, the Astros Golf Foundation committed to transforming Memorial Park Golf Course into a world-class venue for every Houstonian. That investment brought the PGA TOUR’s Houston Open back to Memorial Park for the first time since 1963, restoring the course’s place on the national stage. Today, Memorial Park is recognized as one of the premier municipal golf courses in the country, welcoming more than 60,000 golfers each year.

To ensure the redesign met the highest standards, the Astros Golf Foundation partnered with acclaimed golf course architect Tom Doak. He was joined by four-time major champion Brooks Koepka, who served as the PGA TOUR player consultant, and Don Mahaffey, president of Greenscape Methods, who oversaw construction. Together, they delivered a course that challenges professionals while remaining accessible and enjoyable for everyday players. One of the course’s most innovative features is its state-of-the-art storm-water irrigation system, engineered to capture and store 80 million gallons of storm water annually.

In recent years the list of winners in this tournament is not a marquee list because most of the top players skip this event, but Tony Finau did get the win in 2022. The names of Lee, Jaeger, Kokrak, Ortiz, Griffin, Poulter, Henley, Herman, Holmes, Jones, Points and Mahan are definitely not a who’s who list of golfers. The Houston Open was not always scheduled before the Masters, so there are some big names on the list, including Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott and Vijay Singh.

Two players, Curtis Strange and Vijay Singh have won this event three times and a number of players have won the event twice. It could be that a player challenges that record with the tournament scheduled to take place two weeks before the Masters.

Best Winning Tournament Scores

SCORE GOLFER YEAR
-22 Vijay Singh 2002
-21 Fred Couples 2003
-20 Min Woo Lee 2025
-20 Russell Henley 2017
-20 Phil Mickelson 2011

Singh holds the record at 22-under par, but that mark was nearly equaled in 2003, as Couples finished just a shot back. It is a little bit surprising that the mark by Singh has held up through the years, but it is not easy in most tournaments to shoot better than 20-under par.
