2025 The Open Championship PGA Online Betting
The final major of the year is The Open Championship, held in mid to late July. The tournament, also known as the British Open, is the oldest of the four majors and is held in the United Kingdom. The tournament is always held in England, Scotland or it is held in Northern Ireland. The 2025 event will be the 153rd playing of the championship and it will take place at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. It will be the third time that Royal Portrush will play host to the Open. The last time the Open Championship was held at Royal Portrush was in 2019 when Shane Lowry thrilled local fans with a six-shot win over Tommy Fleetwood. Some of the top contenders to win the 2025 Open Championship are World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who won the PGA Championship in May, World No. 2 Rory McIlroy who won the Masters in April and defending champion Xander Schauffele. The Open Championship has been very unpredictable, as in the past 15 years, there has been a different winner every year.
Catch all of the action at The Open Championship from Thursday, July 17 through Sunday, July 20.

Royal Portrush will be hosting the Open Championship for the third time. Previous Open winners at Royal Portrush are Max Faulkner who won in 1951 and Shane Lowry who won in 2019. Royal Portrush Golf Club was founded in 1888 as The Country Club and it became The Royal Country Club in 1892. It became Royal Portrush Golf Club in 1895. Three of the signature holes on the course are the fourth, fifth and sixteenth holes. The fourth is a long par four with rough on the left and out of bounds on the right and bunkers in the fairway. The fifth is a downhill par four that is on the edge of a long drop down to the beach and has a view of Dunluce Castle. The sixteenth is a long par 3 that measures 236 yards and has the nickname of Calamity Corner.

The scores in the last five decade at The Open Championship have been pretty good and in 2016 it was Henrik Stenson setting the tournament record with a 20-under par and that mark was equaled by Cameron Smith in 2023. Winning scores in this event are not always low, as Padraig Harrington won in 2008 with a score of 3-over par.
