ODDS ANALYSIS

1: Angelita 10/1
2: Learning Curve 12/1
3: Jet Black Magic 6/1
4: Above Fashion 9/2
5: Shesthewinner 10/1
6: La Appassionata 3/5
7: Charlie's Pal 25/1

Clearly there's one name and one name only to follow here in the Delta Downs Princess Stakes. La Appassionata is one of the top fillies in the world right now at two-years old, and she's out to prove it with a romp at a race with a bunch of prestige to it.

Above Fashion is the top contender at 9 to 2, while Jet Black Magic isn't far behind at 6 to 1. Still, in a seven-horse field when four of the seven are double-digit longshots, that's a sign that there's clearly one alpha in the field.

FAVORITE TO FOLLOW

That alpha, of course, is Steve Asmussen's top filly, La Appassionata.

So far in her career, La Appassionata has only run twice, but those two runs were completely dominant. She won the My Trusty Cat Stakes by a whopping seven lengths over a number of fillies who are also in this field, including Above Fashion and Jet Black Magic, and she has posted a pair of 90 Beyer Speed Ratings to show for her work.

Stretching her out to a full mile here at the Delta Downs Princess Stakes is the only real concern. However, she breezed both six and seven furlongs with ease and feels like she's setup to blow right through this race as well.

UNDERDOG TO WATCH

It's really tough to argue for any of these other fillies on Saturday. The only one who has posted a Beyer recently anywhere near those of La Appassionata is Learning Curve. She was fourth best in her second maiden race, but she still ran a 92 Beyer Speed Rating that day at Keeneland Park.

We hating betting on a horse who has never hit the board in any race in her career, albeit in just two races, but there has to be a reason she was brought here to Delta Downs without breaking a maiden.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

The fact that La Appassionata has already crushed the top two contenders in this field leads us to believe that the Delta Downs Princess Stakes won't be all that close either. In fact, we think we're getting a great price at 3 to 5, though we wouldn't go much lower than that.

Unless there's a shocker in this field somewhere, there should be no other result. La Appassionata should settle into a groove in the middle of the pack early on and put on her charge in the final two furlongs or so. We suspect she'll end up winning this one by at least three or four lengths, and she might end up putting on a real showcase and running away from the rest of the pack with ease.
