2016 Sony Open in Hawaii Results

Argentina’s Fabian Gomez clinched his second PGA Tour title with a gripping playoff victory over Brandt Snedeker at the Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday after producing a clutch birdie-birdie finish in regulation.

Gomez strung together seven birdies in a row from holes 6-12, then birdied 17 and 18 to offset bogies on 13 and 14 for his 10-birdie 62 on the par-70 layout. In all, he made 17 birdies on the weekend to nose ahead of Snedeker, who shot nothing worse than 66 in four rounds on defenseless Waialae Country Club, which played fast, true and calm.

2015 Sony Open in Hawaii Winner - Jimmy Walker wins Sony Open in Hawaii for the second time

Jimmy Walker became the first repeat winner of the Sony Open in Hawaii since Ernie Els in 2004.

2015 Sony Open in Hawaii champion Jimmy Walker, successfully defended his 2014 title, finishing at 23-under 257, one stroke short of the tournament record of 256, scored by 2013 champion Russell Henley.

After finishing runner-up at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions last week, Walker successfully defended his title at the Sony Open in Hawaii, claiming his fourth PGA TOUR victory Sunday. The total haul for the Aloha Swing: $1.67 million and the FedExCup lead.

Matt Kuchar just couldn’t get anything going Sunday at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Grouped with Jimmy Walker and Brian Harman in the final trio of the day, Kuchar failed to make a birdie and shot a closing 71. Sunday’s round snapped Kuchar’s streak of 255 consecutive PGA TOUR rounds with at least one birdie.

2014 Sony Open in Hawaii Winner - Jimmy Walker wins Sony Open in Hawaii with four-birdie surge

American Jimmy Walker birdied four of the last six holes to storm clear of a crowded leaderboard and win his second PGA Tour title by one shot at the Sony Open in Hawaii on Monday morning.

The 34-year-old, who had trailed by two strokes overnight, produced ice-cool composure and superb play over the closing stretch as he fired a flawless 7-under-par 63 at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.

Six players held at least a share of the lead during a wildly fluctuating final round but the long-hitting Walker made his timely charge with birdies at the 13th, 15th, 16th and 17th to post a 17-under total of 263.

Masters champion Adam Scott surged to just one shot off the lead with a blistering run of five birdies in his first nine holes before losing momentum after the turn on the way to a 66 and a tie for eighth at 10-under.

Overnight leader Chris Kirk recovered from a slow start to close with a five-birdie 66 and secure outright second place, finishing a stroke in front of fellow American Jerry Kelly (65), the 2002 champion at Waialae.

Kirk, playing in the final group, had a chance to force a playoff with an eagle at the par-five last but his chip from in front of the green ran eight feet past the cup and Walker was able to celebrate his second victory on the US circuit.

2013 Sony Open in Hawaii Winner - Russell Henley wins the 2013 Sony Open by 3 strokes over Tim Clark

Russell Henley won the 2013 Sony Open in Kapalua, Hawaii on Sunday with a final score of 24-under over four rounds. He tied second-place finisher Tim Clark with a low-round score of 7-under on the final day of competition. Henley made birdie on his final five holes to secure the win.

Clark shot 4-under over his final five holes to finish at 21-under overall, three strokes back of Henley but well ahead of the rest of the pack. Scott Langley entered the day in a first-place tie with Henley at 17-under overall, but shot even Sunday to finish in a third-place tie with Charles Howell III (4-under on Sunday).

Matt Kuchar, ranked No. 22 in the latest World Golf Rankings, shot 5-under to finish in a three-way tie for fifth place with Brian Stuard and Chris Kirk.

As a result of his win, Henley took home $990,000 of a $5.5 million purse. The win was his second of the 2012-13 season.

2012 Sony Open in Hawaii Winner - Wagner winner in Hawaii

Johnson Wagner picked up his third PGA Tour win at the Sony Open in Hawaii, with a final round of 67 enough to claim a two-shot victory.

Wagner was three under for the day and 13 over the event, but overnight leader Matt Every missed his chance to push for the title as he shot two over to finish tied for sixth. Four players were level in second on 11 under, with each player in with a chance of victory at some point during the day.

Carl Petterson, Sean O'Hair and Harrison Frazar all matched Wagner's 67 on the day but needed more to press for victory, while Charles Howell III managed only one under, his worst round of the competition.

Wagner's day had started with a bogey five and although he picked a shot right back up at the second he added a second bogey on six.

He again followed that with a birdie at the next hole and went round the back nine in three under, with a pressure putt from the sleeve of the green on the 15th the highlight.

Wagner almost gave himself an unnecessary problem on the final green when he left a birdie attempt short and then almost botched the tap-in putt, but luck stayed with him.
