2013 DP World Tour Championship Winner - Stenson Claims Double Dubai Win

World number three Henrik Stenson blasted a final round 64 to clinch the DP World Tour Championship on Sunday, also topping Europe's money list for 2013 after his six-stroke victory in the desert finale.

The Swede, who followed up his triumph at the U.S. PGA Tour's end-of-season FedExCup in September, pocketed the $1.33 million first prize and an additional $1 million from the tour's bonus prize pool.

Stenson, 37, began the day on 17-under, four shots ahead of Ian Poulter, his only realistic challenger for the Race to Dubai crown, formerly the European Order of Merit, while France's Victor Dubuisson teed-off at 16-under.

Stenson banished any doubts he would claim his first European title of 2013 with four birdies on the opening seven holes, Poulter bogeying the first before picking up three birdies on the front nine.

Stenson sunk another birdie on the 12th and ended with an eagle at the 18th as he strolled to victory, eventually ending on a 25-under par 263.

2011 Dubai World Championship Winner - Paul Lawrie happy to secure second place behind Alvaro Quiros

PAUL LAWRIE almost doubled his year's earnings with a birdie at the last for a 67 to finish second.

He earned a £528,863 payout to finish his 20th season in 18th place on the Race to Dubai and the leading money-winning Scot in Europe.

But he fell three places shy of qualifying for next year's US Open. He said: "I am disappointed not to win but it's been a good week for me.

"I had a putting lesson with Phil Kenyon earlier in the week and he indicated I was aiming a wee bit left and that I was compensating with my stroke.

"He gave me a putting mirror and I worked really hard with it. That's been the difference.

"It's been a great year for me and any time you win, as I did at the Andalucian Open, it's a good year."

The Scot will head into his 21st season next month £500,000 shy of becoming the Tour's newest £10m earner.

But while disappointed to have let victory slip to Alvaro Quiros, Lawrie arrives back in Scotland today with good reason to be pleased with his effort in his first appearance at the event.
