MLS Betting Odds – Los Angeles Galaxy at Inter Miami Match Preview

Inter Miami will host its first match as an MLS team this weekend, when the Los Angeles Galaxy head to south Florida. The expansion franchise is looking for its first victory in the league, but they would settle for points at this juncture following an 0-2 start to the season. All eyes will be on David Beckham, as he was instrumental in bringing the MLS back to Miami, and he spent six years on the Galaxy when he came to the United States.

Don't miss the Major League Soccer action from Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Catch every moment of the match live on FOX.

Odds Analysis

The Galaxy are looking for their first win this season too. In their first match, they broke open the scoring against the Houston Dynamo thanks to a Cristian Pavon goal in the 13th minute, but they weren’t able to hold on to grab all three points. Houston eventually broke through in a game where the Dynamo had 60 percent of the possession, with Mauro Manotas pulling back a goal for a 1-1 draw.

We saw clear frustration from the Galaxy against the Vancouver Whitecaps last Saturday. In their home opener, they could only muster one shot on goal, and they lost 1-0 after a 74th minute goal from Tosaint Ricketts. This team is much less explosive than it was with Zlatan Ibrahimovic the last two seasons, and that has led to the boo birds coming out.

Inter Miami played its inaugural MLS game in Los Angeles, taking on Los Angeles FC. Inter had some decent chances in that game, firing seven shots on frame, but the only goal came from MLS Golden Boot winner Carlos Vela.

Rodolfo Pizarro scored the first goal in Inter Miami history against D.C. United last week. Pizarro found the back of the net in the second minute, and Inter Miami appeared set to at least earn a point in the nation’s capital. However, a Roman Torres red card in the 54th minute gave D.C. United life, and they cashed in with goals from Yamil Asad and Frederic Brilliant in the span of two minutes for a 2-1 win.

Key Absences

Danilo Acosta will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in a preseason match against Toronto FC. The Galaxy also may be without midfielder Efrain Alvarez due to an ankle injury, while Joe Corona will miss the match after picking up a red card against the Whitecaps.

Torres will miss the match for Inter Miami due to last week’s red card, and midfielder George Acosta, forward Julian Carranza, and defender Denso Ulysse have been ruled out with lower body injuries. Forward Robbie Robinson is questionable because of an ankle issue too.

Player to Watch

Chicharito was expected to replace much of Ibra’s production for the Galaxy, but he has not been sharp in his first two matches. He has not responded well to the criticism, refusing to answer questions from the media after last weekend’s performance, and the pressure is mounting for the high-priced acquisition. His move to the MLS was heralded as he is Mexico’s all-time leading goal scorer, but the hero may soon be labeled a goat.

Free Soccer Betting Pick

Inter Miami will pick up its first points and first victory this weekend. The Galaxy are in disarray, and cross-country road trips are never easy. Expect Pizarro to find the back of the net at least once for the hosts.

Major League Soccer Odds: Inter Miami 2, Los Angeles Galaxy 1
