Packers at 49ers Thursday Night Football Betting Odds

Packers at 49ers TNF Week 9 Betting

The Green Bay Packers visit the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night in a game that can be seen on FOX and NFL Network. The Packers are coming off a surprising home loss to Minnesota, while the 49ers lost to the Seahawks. This is a revenge game for Green Bay, as they were beaten twice by San Francisco last season, including in the NFC Championship Game. The 49ers are dealing with a number of injuries and there is some question as to what the line on this game will be. Early indications are that the Packers will be a 3-point favorite with a total of 51. Let’s look at the Thursday night matchup and NFL picks.

Odds Analysis

It appears that the Packers are going to be a 3-point favorite with the total listed at 51. The early line had the Packers at 2.5, but San Francisco may not have quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo or tight end George Kittle. The 49ers are so banged up that the Packers have to be listed as a road favorite in this contest.

Injury Report

Both teams have a number of players on the injury report, so we’ll just focus on the key ones. The big one to watch for Green Bay is the one to running back Aaron Jones. He has missed the last two games due to a calf injury and the offense has not been the same without him. Check his status before Thursday’s game.

The 49ers are a walking MASH unit, as they have numerous injuries on both sides of the ball. They are missing so many of their top players that they are no threat in the NFC and they will do well just to make the playoffs. People will talk about the injury to Garoppolo, but right now, the team is better off if Garoppolo doesn’t play. He had a high ankle injury earlier this season and although he has come back to play, he is not fully healthy and I don’t think he will be healthy until next season. Whether he can ever get past last year’s Super Bowl loss is questionable and now he has to regain his form coming back from injury. Garoppolo is simply not a good quarterback right now and the 49ers are far better off with Nick Mullens as their starter. The injury to George Kittle is another problem for San Francisco, as they are already without their top running back, top receiver and many top players on defense. They need Kittle and Deebo Samuel to play this week if they are to have any chance against Green Bay.

Game Trends

Green Bay is 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games against San Francisco. The total has gone over in 8 of the last 11 meetings.

Free ATS Pick

When the line on this game came out I was really surprised. The 49ers are not a good team right now because they are so banged up. They are without their best running back, wide receiver, defensive end, cornerback, etc., etc. The team is lucky to be .500 and after this game they won’t be. If the 49ers go with Mullens at quarterback and if Kittle and Samuel are back then San Francisco has a chance, but I don’t think Samuel plays and Kyle Shanahan may be stubborn enough to stick with Garoppolo who simply can’t throw effectively. If he goes with Garoppolo then this will be a Green Bay rout. Regardless, the Packers are coming off a loss, playing with revenge and their one big weakness, stopping the run, isn’t a huge issue against the 49ers because San Francisco is struggling to run the ball without their injured players. I will lay the small number and take the Packers in this game.

NFL Pick: Packers 31, 49ers 20
