2025 MLB Betting Online
While the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees have received most of the attention and have been locked into the first and second favorite spots on the MLB futures odds board, and the Detroit Tigers have surprised by owning the best record in the American League, there are teams that haven’t received much notoriety but have remained in the thick of the World Series champion race. The Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs lead their respective divisions while winning more than 58 percent of their games. A favorite to win the NL Central, the Cubs boast one of the most prolific offenses ranking among the top 5 in runs/game, batting average, OPS and home runs. They have the best run differential in the NL and are second in MLB. Meanwhile the Astros have pulled away in the AL West taking two of three from the Cubs over the weekend and winning xx of their last xx games.
It’s still the Dodgers and then every other team on the odds list. Showing off their depth LA took over the best record in the senior circuit and matched Detroit for the best record in MLB. The Dodgers closed last week with a win over Kansas City, their 12th in the last 15 games, and have their biggest lead of the year in the NL West. The Yankees remain the second favorite even though they helped the AL East tighten up by losing 11 of their last 17 games. The offense took a hiatus during a six-game losing streak in the middle of June scoring a total of six runs. They are better than what they showed during the skid and still rank among the top 5 in scoring.
With teams closing the gap on the Yankees in the AL East we’ll take a deeper dive into what is the tightest division in baseball top to bottom. Among the World Series favorites at the start of the season, the Baltimore Orioles continue to bring up the rear entering the week 11 games out of first place.

New York Yankees
Just like players, teams deal with slumps over the course of a long season. For the Yankees it seemed like everybody in the lineup slumped at the same time during a recent six-game losing streak. The Bombers were blanked three times in that span and scored a total of six runs. Despite the slump the Yankees average more than five runs per game to place among the top 5 in MLB and led by Aaron Judge they are second in home runs. Overall pitching has been strong, but the staff has allowed five runs or more in each of their last four games, including Tuesday’s 12-5 loss to Toronto.
Tampa Bay Rays
Not only are the Rays climbing the division standings they’re moving up the futures odds board as well. They went 17-10 in June but closed the month losing two in row and three of four. A healthy rotation was expected to help the club contend for a playoff spot, but not much was said about the offense. Well, the Rays open the week with the second best team batting average in the majors and have the most stolen bases. Efficiency has produced 4.8 runs per game and their plus-69 run differential is fifth best in MLB.
Toronto Blue Jays
The Jays have also taken advantage of New York’s recent woes while contributing to them. Opening the week with a four-game series against the Yanks, Toronto has made things interesting taking the first two games. They got to Max Fried and celebrated Canada Day with a 12-5 win moving within two games of first place. Making his third start of the season on Monday, the Jays got some encouraging news from Max Scherzer, who allowed three hits and struck out seven in five innings in Toronto’s 5-4 victory.
Boston Red Sox
The Sox have taken a lot of heat for trading Rafael Devers, a move that was followed up by some poor play. They are just 5-8 since the deal, but offense hasn’t been as big of an issue as pitching. The Sox boast a staff ERA over 4.00 and outside of Garrett Crochet the rotation has been inconsistent. The Sox could sneak into a wild card spot, but in reality their young prospects need some seasoning and the rotation needs a boost.
Baltimore Orioles
There were some questions about the rotation at the start of the year, especially after the O’s let Corbin Burnes walk in the offseason. Injuries and flat out poor performances led to a disappointing first half. Zach Eflin, Charlie Morton and Cade Povich have all made 12 starts and each boast an ERA over 5.00. The team had confidence in its young offensive stars but they too have struggled; the O’s rank in the bottom half in most pertinent offensive stat categories.
