Ken Shamrock has a career record of 28-16-2 with 23 wins by submission, three by decision and two by knockout. He has been a below average fighter in the past decade, losing eight of his past 10 bouts as age has slowed him down. Shamrock’s most recent victory came over Johnathan Ivey on October 16th, 2010, via unanimous decision. He has since lost two consecutive fights, including falling by first-round knockout to Kevin Ferguson in June of 2015 after a nearly five-year hiatus from MMA. He will look to defeat Gracie in a matchup between two old foes.
Royce Gracie is 14-2-3 in his career with 12 wins by submission and a pair by decision. He hasn’t fought since 2007, when Gracie defeated Kazushi Sakuraba by unanimous decision in a lower-level bout. Gracie defeated Shamrock by first-round submission back in 1993 and then they fought to a draw in 1995. Gracie has the more impressive body of work, but no one knows how his body will respond after not fighting for the past eight years. The fighter who comes in in better shape could be at a big advantage.
Another notable bout highlights the action at Bellator 149. Kimbo Slice (5-2) will face off with Dhafir Harris in a heavyweight showdown. Slice, also known as Kevin Ferguson, has three knockouts in his career and is coming off a win over Shamrock. Emmanuel Sanchez (12-2) faces Daniel Pineda while Melvin Guillard matches up against Mike Bronzoulis in the other top showdowns at Bellator 149 in MMA betting.
