John Molina has a career mark of 27-6 with 22 wins via knockout. He started 24-1 to get a shot at the WBC lightweight title in 2012 but lost by knockout to Antonio DeMarco. Molina won three of his next four but has not done well at all of late as the competition has increased. He was knocked out by Lucas Matthysse, fell by unanimous decision to Humberto Soto and then lost a unanimous decision most recently to Adrien Broner on March 7th, 2015. While the fighters he has faced of late have been good, it’s hard to claim to be a title contender with three straight losses, and Molina needs to turn it around in a hurry.
While neither fighter has been good of late, Provodnikov has been a champion in the past and has a better track record against elite competition. Therefore, he should be the favorite in boxing wagering.
