Sergey Kovalev defeating Jean Pascal by technical knockout in the eighth round of the pair’s first fight back in March. The 32-year-old remains unbeaten with a record of 28-0-1 in his career so far. He has defeated 25 opponents by knockout. He is the current WBA (Super) , IBF and WBO Light Heavyweight champion and will put all three titles on the line against Pascal in this rematch. In his most recent appearance in the ring on July 7th, Kovalev defeated Nadjib Mohammedi in a third-round technical knockout. Kovalev won his first major world title in August of 203 when he captured the WBO Light Heavyweight title after defeating Nathan Cleverly in the fourth round by technical knockout. He won the IBF and WBA (Super) titles the following year, defeating Bernard Hopkins by unanimous decision in August 2014. He has also held two additional regional titles, winning the NABA USA Light Heavyweight title against Douglas Otieno Okola in 2011 and the WBC Asian Boxing Council Light Heavyweight title against Roman Simakov in that same year. Tragically, Simakov, who was knocked out during the fight, died just three days later due to brain injuries. Kovalev made his professional debut in 2009 and has only entered the ring one time without emerging victorious, fighting to a draw against  Grover Young in 2011. Before turning pro, Kovalev also had a very successful amateur career as well.

Jean Pascal brings a record of 30-3-1 with one no contest into this bout. The 33-year-old has defeated 17 opponents by knockout in that time. After falling to Kovalev back in March, Pascal rebounded with a decision win over Yunieski Gonzalez in July. It was his first victory in more than a year. Pascal will be eager to get another crack at the champ in Quebec. Since the first fight, the Canadian boxer has also switched trainers, hiring Freddie Roach to replace Marc Ramsay in November. The former WBC, lineal and The Ring magazine light heavyweight champion is hoping that the change in trainers will change the outcome of this upcoming rematch. Pascal’s most recent win came in January 2014 when he defeated Lucian Bute by unanimous decision. After starting his career 21-0, Pascal fell to Carl Froch in 2008 and then suffered his sec on loss of his career in 2011, losing in a rematch to Bernard Hopkins after fighting to a draw with the American fighter in his previous bout. Pascal also has also captured wins over George Blades, Aleksy Kuziemski and Chad Dawson in his career in boxing betting.
