2018-Horse-Noble-Indy-Betting-SpreadsKentucky Derby Betting: Although he has hit the board in all four of his races, most prognosticators aren’t giving Noble Indy much of a chance heading into this race. The horse is over 40-1 to win the Kentucky Derby right now, which may provide some good value for bettors looking to back a horse that has been in the Winner’s Circle multiple times.

Noble Indy has been remarkably consistent since his maiden race back in December. He crushed a decent field, winning by 8 ¾ lengths, and posted a speed rating of 97. He followed that up with a narrow win in his first claiming race, dueling with another horse the entire way en route to a 95 speed rating.

Next up was a Grade 2 Stakes race, the Risen Star Stakes. Noble Indy was one of the favorites heading into the race, but he ended up finishing third. Once again, his speed was about the same, but two longshots had incredible performances to best the field.

That left Noble Indy needing points in order to ensure a spot at the Derby. He was entered into the Louisiana Derby and bested the two horses that topped him in the last race, as well as My Boy Jack and Lone Sailor, by less than a length. The win gave him 100 points and a place in the starting gate.

The Kentucky Derby will go to post on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 6:34 p.m. ET at Churchill Downs in Louisville. Catch the Kentucky Derby live on NBC.

With the name Indy, there is little doubt about the horse’s lineage. Noble Indy’s grandsire is A.P. Indy and his sire is Take Charge Indy. Take Charge Indy won the 2012 Florida Derby, but injuries hampered him for the rest of his racing career. He was retired from racing shortly after and is now used for his genes. Noble Indy’s dam is Noble Maz.

Todd Pletcher is the trainer for Noble Indy and three other Kentucky Derby horses. This year, Pletcher will become the trainer with the most horses to run at the Derby ever, with nearly 50. He has only won twice before, but he has a good chance to see his third horse win with four talented entries.

Florent Geroux will be the jockey for Noble Indy. This will be his third appearance at the Kentucky Derby, and he is looking to top his debut where he rode Gun Runner to third place.

Why Noble Indy Will Win the Kentucky Derby

Consistency is important in horse racing. Noble Indy has been able to post very similar times in all four of his races and saved his best for last a couple months ago. That was the first time he cracked 100 and that gives bettors hope that he might be fast enough to top this field.

Why Noble Indy Won't Win the Kentucky Derby

It would have been nice to see this horse run against the other top horses prior to this race. Noble Indy never participated in a Grade 1 Stakes Race, and that raises some questions about his caliber. He did beat a few other horses racing on Saturday, yet he didn’t race the best.

The Final Verdict

Noble Indy could be worth some cash as a longshot. He is enticing at 40-1 odds and might be able to at least make things interesting. He is a front-runner like the other favorites in this race, so he won’t be outpaced. His finishing kick was enough for him to oust Lone Sailor, and that kick could be enough.
