Pittsburgh Steelers +2.5

Buffalo Bills -2.5

Total 46.5

Odds Analysis

There has been a lot of movement toward Buffalo in this game, as it seems everyone is on the Bills. Pittsburgh was listed as the favorite before their game against Washington, but after the Steelers suffered their first loss, the line dramatically moved toward Buffalo. The total has moved down slightly, as it opened up at 47.5 and is down to 46.5.

Injury Report

The Steelers are expected to be without inside linebacker Robert Spillane who has a knee injury. The loss of Spillane would really hurt, as Pittsburgh is already without linebackers Devin Bush and Bud Dupree who are out for the season. Pittsburgh could also be without cornerback Joe Haden who is in concussion protocol. The Steelers should get James Conner and Maurkice Pouncey back after they were on the Reserve/COVID-19 List. It is also possible that Pittsburgh gets cornerback Steven Nelson back from injury and they are hoping that kicker Chris Boswell will be available.

Key Matchup

The key in this game is whether or not the Pittsburgh defense can keep Josh Allen and the Buffalo passing game in check. It may not be easy without Spillane and Haden. Allen ranks fifth in the NFL in passing yards at 3,403. He was excellent last week, throwing for 375 yards with four TDs and no interceptions in the win over the 49ers. The Bills have scored 30 points or more in a total of six games this season. Allen has thrown for more than 300 yards in six games and he has 33 TDs, 26 passing, six rushing and one receiving this season. Allen has a good receiving corps led by Stefon Diggs who is tied for the league lead with 90 receptions and he is fifth in receiving yards with 1,037.

Game Trends

The Steelers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 vs. the AFC. The Steelers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Steelers are 21-7-2 ATS in their last 30 games as an underdog. The Bills are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a home favorite. The Under is 4-0-1 in the Steelers last 5 games overall. The Under is 7-1 in the Steelers last 8 games in December. The Under is 38-12-1 in the Steelers last 51 road games. The Over is 15-7 in the Bills last 22 games as a home favorite. The Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in this series.

Free ATS Pick

I tell you every week that I hate going with the public and yet I fall into the same trap more often than not. The public is all over the Bills in this game and that is also the way I lean. I think the Steelers are overrated and I thought that before they lost to Washington. I lean toward the Bills in this game, but I think the best play is on the total. The Pittsburgh defense has issues and Buffalo’s offense is explosive and I am also not impressed with Buffalo’s defense. I think this could turn into a high scoring game on Sunday night, so I will go over the total.

NFL Pick: Bills 27, Steelers 24
