NFL Week 8 Parlay Picks

I came close to hitting another three-team NFL parlay last week when sports betting with bitcoin losing by an eyelash, okay several eyelashes, in backing the Chargers and Browns. Still, it hasn’t been a bad month with a pair of three-team winners in the last four weeks fattening the bankroll. It’s no time to get complacent with the NFL season reaching the midway point and all 32 teams in action for Week 8 of the campaign. Showing just how volatile the NFL is underdogs prevailed in seven of the 13 games last week with eight dogs earning a payout. The Patriots were the biggest upset winner shocking Buffalo 29-25 while catching 7.5-points on the closing line. We also saw a big upset on Monday night with Minnesota beating the Niners outright as a 7-point dog.

I guess I’m just like the frustrated Chargers fans wondering why they aren’t better than they actually are. They seem to have an abundance of talent but for whatever reason they can’t put it all together. Maybe it’s a coaching problem, which is why Brandon Staley is among the favorites for first coach fired. LA has played a number of close games this season and they hung with Kansas City in past meetings so I backed them at +5. The chargers went scoreless in the second half falling 31-17 to the defending champs. Cleveland scored a late touchdown to beat Indy 39-38 but failed to cover the 2-point line. Of course I had the Browns and was watching their 2-point conversion intently. They didn’t make it and neither did I. I correctly predicted the UNDER in the Arizona/Seattle matchup avoiding an 0-3 week, but it was little consolation. I’ll try to get back to my winning ways in Week 8 of the NFL season.

Not that I’m overly confident in the Jets but I feel better about their defense than I feel about the Giants offense, which is why backing Gang Green -2.5 is the right choice. There were some struggles with the Jets initially following the injury to Aaron Rodgers. Zach Wilson and the entire offense had to adjust to a game plan designed for a 38-year-old whose mobility had been impacted by age and years of playing the game.

The Jets have played solid football the past three games winning the last two and falling to KC by three in the first game of the run. They have payouts in all three contests with Wilson looking more comfortable. Wilson had two of his better games against the Chiefs and Broncos completing better than 70 of his passes. The yardage numbers weren’t high but the offense is designed more around running the football with Wilson a part of that plan. He’s dangerous enough to keep defenses honest allowing Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook to muster up yards. And weaker defenses than the Jets have been able to shut down a pathetic Giants offense.

Showing they can still be a disruptive force, the Patriots upset Buffalo last week and are catching 9.5 points in their matchup with the Dolphins. Miami couldn’t sustain the numbers they were putting up earlier in the season and the Fins were held to one offensive touchdown and a season-low 17 points in a loss to the Eagles. Despite their 2-5 record the Pats possess a top 10 total defense and held Miami to 24 points in a 7-point Week 2 loss.

I wavered on the total for the matchup between the Rams and Cowboys eventually settling on the teams going OVER the number of 45. You need all phases to contribute and when the kicker leaves seven points on the field and you lose by seven points there’s a chance job security is in question. The Rams released Brett Maher following his failures. The Rams have been sporadic but the return of Cooper Kupp sparked Matthew Stafford and the offense. Toss in the emergence of Puka Nucua and the passing game is a threat. Dallas is coming off its bye looking to find a rhythm offensively. The Boys scored a total of 30 points in their two pre-bye contests but return to Big D where they’ve been a completely different squad. The Cowboys are 2-0 in their building outscoring opponents 68-13.
