NFL Week 6 Ugly Dog Picks - Bet on Football

NFL Week 6 Ugly Dog Picks

Some of the best bets in the NFL each week are oftentimes wagers on teams that are considered the worst in the league. If you want to win money betting NFL games then you need to be willing to take teams no one else wants to bet. We refer to these teams as ugly dogs and you really have to hold your nose sometimes when you bet on them, but history has shown that going against the public works. We are coming off a 2-2 record in Week 5. Let’s take a look at the Week 6 Ugly Dog picks.

NFL Week 6 Ugly Dog Picks

Let me point out one fact that you are probably already aware of. When you bet these games, you are usually better off waiting until Sunday morning to make your wagers because you will probably get a better number than what I list from earlier in the week.

Jacksonville Jaguars +3.5 vs. Miami Dolphins

There are two winless teams in the NFL, the Jaguars and the Lions. The Jaguars are the worst of the two teams and they are getting points again this week in a neutral site game in London against Miami. The Jaguars have all kinds of problems on and off the field. They were expected to be better this season but it is obvious to everyone that head coach Urban Meyer is not cut out to be an NFL head coach. He may have already lost the respect of his team and once that happens it is over. The one positive for this game is that the Dolphins are struggling.

Miami was supposed to be a contender in the AFC this season but they had trouble staying competitive. The Dolphins have been without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa but he could be back this week. It is getting tougher and tougher to take the Jaguars each week, but they are definitely an ugly dog and we take them again plus the points in this contest.

Houston Texans +10 at Indianapolis Colts

The Texans have played better than their record indicates, as they could easily have a couple more wins. What hurt their cause was the injury to Tyrod Taylor but rookie quarterback Davis Mills seems to have found his way. He played well last week against the Patriots and if he plays well again this week then the Texans have a chance to be competitive against the Colts.

Indianapolis is coming off a very difficult loss to Baltimore where they blew a big lead and it may be hard for the Colts to put that loss behind them. Most bettors believe the Colts will win this game easily, as Indianapolis is a big home favorite, but the Colts have not proven they can close out games. We’ll take the Texans as an ugly dog.

Detroit Lions +3 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

There is no question that the Lions have been the hard luck team in the NFL so far this season. Detroit is winless at 0-5 but they could easily have three wins and be 3-2 this season. The oddsmakers are also aware that the Lions are not as bad as their record and Detroit is getting just three points in this game against the Bengals. Cincinnati is coming off an emotional loss to Green Bay and they may have trouble putting that game behind them. The Lions have been a good team to us in this column and we go with them again this week as an ugly dog.

New York Giants +10.5 vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Giants have been a huge disappointment this season, as they are 1-4. The Giants now have major injury issues to deal with, as Daniel Jones is questionable with a concussion, while running back Saquon Barkley and Kenny Golladay are probably out. The good news for the Giants is that Jones, Barley and Golladay should return soon. The bad news for New York is that they face a Los Angeles team that is loaded on both sides of the ball. The Rams have the far better offense and a better defense and they should win this game going away. We don’t go with the public and what should happen, as we take the teams no one wants to take. We’ll take the Giants as an ugly dog.
