2025-2026 NHL Stanley Cup Betting
The NHL playoff race intensifies dramatically from March 9 through March 15, 2026, as the league barrels through the final quarter of the regular season. To summarize, most teams have roughly 20 games remaining after the recent trade deadline and the Olympic break recovery.
This seven-day window features several pivotal matchups that could swing division leads, wild-card positions, and overall seeding in both conferences. In particular, the crowded Eastern Atlantic and Western wild-card battles.
Overall, the East features intense Atlantic battles with Tampa, Buffalo, Detroit, and Montreal, all capable of reshaping the bracket. At the same time the Metro offers Carolina breathing room but tight competition below. The West shows Colorado pulling away as the class of the conference. Yet the Pacific and Central wild cards remain fluid with multiple teams within striking distance of top spots or playoff berths.
With the trade deadline passed, momentum injuries, key divisional matchups, and late surges will dictate final seeding as the league heads toward the playoffs starting in mid-April.

NHL Future Market Update and Teams to Watch
In the Eastern Conference, the Tampa Bay Lightning lead the Atlantic Division with 82 points in 61 games, showcasing a strong 39-18-4 record, bolstered by elite goaltending and timely scoring to hold the top seed despite a tight race.
The Buffalo Sabres sit deadlocked at 82 points in 63 games, riding a hot streak with 38 wins and mounting pressure on Tampa for the division crown. While the Detroit Red Wings, at 77 points in 63 games, and the Montreal Canadiens, at 76 points in 61 games, lurk closely behind. Correlate that they are pushing for higher seeds or wild-card security.
The Carolina Hurricanes dominate the Metropolitan Division at 86 points in 62 games. Carolina owns a comfortable lead over the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins, both around 75 points. Consider that the Islanders hold games in hand. But they face challenges to close the gap.
The wild-card spots currently go to the Canadiens and Boston Bruins. Meanwhile, the Columbus Blue Jackets are surging close behind in a volatile mix where recent form and head-to-head results could flip positions quickly.
And then in the Western Conference, the Colorado Avalanche reign supreme at 93 points in 61 games with a 42-10-9 mark. Specifically, Colorado is demonstrating dominant offense, elite defense, and depth. All of that positions them as clear favorites for the Central Division title and potentially the conference's top seed.
The Dallas Stars follow in strong positioning with around 38 wins. While the Minnesota Wild round out the Central's top three, emphasizing consistent play and goaltending strength.
In the Pacific, the Anaheim Ducks are in contention for the division lead. Consider they have recent momentum, potentially building a points edge over challengers like the Vegas Golden Knights through key upcoming games.
The wild-card picture features teams like the Utah Mammoth holding a slight edge. Following closely behind are the Seattle Kraken and others. Including the Edmonton Oilers, staying in the hunt, where parity reigns, and every point matters in the crowded race.
Monday, March 9, kicks off with a handful of intriguing games, including the Los Angeles Kings at the Columbus Blue Jackets, where Columbus looks to build on its strong post-coach change surge. Meanwhile, the Calgary Flames at Washington Capitals and the Utah Mammoth at the Chicago Blackhawks add layers to Western positioning. Especially for Utah, defending their wild-card hold.
Tuesday, March 10, stands out with high-profile Western action as the Edmonton Oilers travel to the Colorado Avalanche. Specifically, the matchup is a clash pitting Edmonton's star power against Colorado's overall dominance and home-ice advantage. It could potentially impact the Central Division hierarchy or conference seeding. The New York Islanders at St. Louis Blues also carries weight in the broader playoff picture, with New York navigating tight races.
By Sunday, March 15, the schedule ramps up again with multiple games that could reshape brackets—specifically, potential head-to-heads or cross-conference tests involving surging teams like the Canadiens.
