The 32-year-old comes into this bout after losing to Rafael dos Anjos in a first-round technical knockout in a fight for the UFC Lightweight Championship on December 19th. He will be eager to rebound with a win against Oliveira. His recent loss came after an eight-fight winning streak that went from November 2013 through May 2015. Cerrone has fallen twice to Dos Anos in his career. His most recent victory was last May when he defeated John Makdessi in a second-round technical knockout. He went 3-1 in 2015 and will be looking to start 2016 off win a win as well.
Tim Means has a record of 25-7-1 in his career. He has shown power in the ring, capturing 17 victories by knockout. Means captured a second-round knockout win over John Howard in his most recent bout on December 10th. He was awarded the Performance of the Night award for the win. Like Cerrone, he went 3-1 in 2015. His only loss came in July when he fell in the first round by submission against Matt Brown. Means also captured victories against George Sullivan and Dhiego Lima last year. The 31-year-old is a former KOTC Junior Welterweight Championship and has since moved up to the welterweight division.
Also on the fight card at FC Fight Night 83: Cerron vs Oliveira is the middleweight showdown between Derek Brunson and Roan Carneiro. Brunson brings a three-fight winning streak with him to Pittsburgh as he comes in with a record of 14-3. The 32-year-old capture his latest victory on August 8th, defeating Sam Alvey in the first round by technical knockout. He also has recent win over Ed Herman and Lorenz Larkin. Brunson’s last loss was two years ago when he fell to Yoel Romero by technical knockout.
Carneiro has a record of 20-9 and has a winning streak of his own going coming into this bout, having won his last six in a row. The Brazilian fighter only fought once in 2015, defeating Mark Munoz by technical submission on February 28th. He’ll be looking for his seventh straight victory against Brunson in MMA gambling.
