VanZant’s only loss of her career came in January 2013 when she fell to Tecia Torres by submission in the first round.
Rose Namajunas is 3-2 so far in her career. All three victories have come by submission. The 23-year-old got back in the winning column on October third with a first-round submission victory over Angela Hill. The victory came after back-to-back losses. She fell to Tecia Torres in 2013 and then to Carla Esparza in a fight for the UFC Women's Strawweight Championship. Namajunas will be eager to add another win to her resume against VanZant.
The lightweight bout between Jim Miller and Michael Chiesa is another bout to watch at UFC Fight Night 80. Miller comes into this one with a record of 25-6. Included in his victories are 14 submission wins. Miller defeated Danny Castillo by decision on July 25th to capture his most recent victory. The win this summer came after the 32-year-old lost two in a row, falling first to Donald Cerrone and most recently to Beneil Dariush. In his last ten bouts, Miller has gone 5-4 with one no contest. Chiesa is 12-2 coming into Las Vegas. Like Miller, the majority of his wins have come by way of submission. Chiesa defeated Mitch Clarke by decision on April 4th and will be eager to tack another win to his record on December 4th. His most recent loss came in September of 2014 where Chiesa fell to Joe Lauzon in the second round by technical knockout. The 27-year-old turned pro in 2008 and started his career with nine straight wins before suffering his first loss in 2013. Since then, he’s gone 3-1 in the octagon.
Also fighting at UFC Fight Night 80: VanZant vs Namajunas are welterweights Tim Means and John Howard and bantamweights Aljamain Sterling and Johnny Eduardo. In all, there are 12 fights scheduled to take place in MM odds.
