Frankie Edgar comes into this bout against Mendes with a record of 18-4-1. He is riding a four-fight winning streak and will be looking to extend that streak against Mendes. Most recently, Edgar defeated Urijah Faber by decision on May 16th. He also captured wins over Cub Swanson and B.J. Penn in 2014. Edgar hasn’t lost a fight since 2013. His most recent loss was to Jose Aldo.
Another bout on the fight card for The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Faber is the lightweight bout between Brazil’s Edson Barboza and Tony Ferguson. Barboza is 16-3 right now and has defeated 10 opponents by knockout. The Brazilian fighter is 1-1 so far in 2015 and will be looking to add another win to his resume. Barboza defeated Paul Felder by decision on July 25th, but fell to Michael Johnson by decision on February 22nd. The 29-year-old also has recent wins over Bobby Green and Evan Dunham. Ferguson is 19-3 coming into this bout and has defeated nine opponents via knockout. The California native is riding a six-fight winning streak that he’ll look to extend against Barboza. He defeated Josh Thomson on July 15th and also took care of business against Gleison Tibau on February 28th. Ferguson has only lost one time in the last seven years with that defeat coming in May 2012 against Michael Johnson where he fell by decision.
