2016-Sounders-vs-SKC-Betting-Odds

The first Sunday of March is arguably the biggest day of the year for MLS fans, as every team in the league kicks off its season between 1:30 and 8:30 p.m. The last of the nationally televised games that day pits the Seattle Sounders up against Sporting Kansas City.

Super Sunday in the MLS is one of the biggest days of the year, and you can bet there will be posted odds at BookMaker.eu prior to the kickoffs of all of the matches.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Seattle is perennially one of the most overrated teams in the MLS. It's amazing to think that the Sounders have never gotten over the hill to win an MLS Cup, but once again, they're one of the top choices to get the job done. They'll be an odds-on favorite for sure at CenturyLink Field, one of the toughest venues to play in the entire nation regardless of whether we're talking about the Sounders or the Seattle Seahawks.

SEATTLE SOUNDERS SEASON PREVIEW

There was a lot of talk that Seattle was going to be breaking up this team after failing in the quarterfinals of the MLS Cup playoffs last year. The home-and-home defeat to FC Dallas was brutal, especially when you consider the fact that there were so many opportunities to put that showdown away both at home and away.

It's not like the whole team has been blown apart. Joevin Jones is going to be a fine returnee to the roster after getting traded to Seattle from Chicago, while Clint Dempsey will be called upon to be the tutor for Jordan Morris as well as the leader of this team.

But look up and down at the roster, and you'll see reasons to cringe. The Sounders no longer have Obafemi Martins, Lamar Neagle, Marco Pappa, Andy Rose, Chad Barrett and Gonzalo Pineda. Sigi Schmid still has talent, and he's still one of the best bosses in the MLS, but this team isn't half of what it was last season.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY SEASON PREVIEW

Sporting KC won the U.S. Open Cup last season, and one can only wonder what could've been had it beaten eventual MLS Cup winner, Portland in a marathon shootout in the opening round of the playoffs.

However, if we're being honest, this roster isn't fantastic. Dom Dwyer is a great striker, but he's always proven to be most effective when he has a great running mate. Krisztian Nemeth is now gone, and there really isn't an obvious answer when it comes to replacing him. We like the additions of Justin Mapp and Brad Davis in the midfield, but they're more defensive-minded players. Averaging 1.4 goals per game again this season could end up being a difficult task to repeat.

ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION

Seattle did win 11 matches last year at home, the second most in the Western Conference behind LA, while Sporting Kansas City wasn't good on the road at just 4-4-9.

This figures to be a low-scoring game, and we think there's going to be a great shot at playing the under as a result. Both Seattle and SKC are considered to be offensive-minded teams, but the Sounders lost their best finisher in Martins, while Sporting is now without Nemeth, their best creator in space. As a result, this game could slug on for 90 minutes. We'd bet that Dempsey finds some magic late on to win this match for the Sounders, and we think they do have an edge having played in the CONCACAF Champions League already this year, but this will be touch and go for the full 90.

Seattle 1, Sporting Kansas City 0
