Sporting KC and the Seattle Sounders are both out of the playoff hunt at this point and their road records are the reason why. Sporting KC is 2-3-6 on the road the Sounders are even worse at 1-2-6. ODDS ANALYSIS

Seattle is lacking the goal scoring prowess it usually has in the season and the Sounders are dead last in the West in goals scored with 20. The Sounders are nine points behind Portland for the last playoff spot, and haven’t been able to make up ground because they just don’t get results. The 11 losses they have is the most in the MLS and that number sticks out in comparison with just two draws.

KEY PLAYERS

Clint Dempsey is starting to slow down now that he is older, but when he is on, he is one of the best strikers in the league. Dempsey hasn’t played much over the past two months due to playing for the US in the Copa America Centenario and the rest he received after. He only has three goals for the Sounders this year, but has had a heavy workload at the midway mark of the season. Assuming he plays on Sunday, he will instantly make Seattle more respectable.

In Dempsey’s absence, Jordan Morris has been the leading goal-getter for Seattle. Morris has tallied seven goals this season, and is one of the best rookies in the league. The 21-year old doesn’t have the same clinical finishing as Dempsey, but if he stays to learn, will be a dynamic play for Seattle and the national team in the future.

Dom Dwyer has been like clockwork for Sporting. Dwyer scored two goals in every month from March to June, and although he has yet to notch a goal in July, he looks bound to break free. His main weakness is his inability to help teammates score and he has now gone over three months without setting up a goal.

Benny Feilhaber and Graham Zusi make for one of the best midfield combinations in the MLS, but for a myriad of reasons haven’t clicked yet this season. Both these players need to perform well for Sporting to get a victory over Seattle.

LIVE BETTING

These teams both lost key players to international tournaments over the last two months and there play has suffered as a result. However, with all tournaments over now, the players should be coming back to their clubs soon after some deserved time off.

QUICK PICK

Seattle is a powerhouse in the MLS at this point and is the only team in the league that is able to consistently pack an NFL stadium. The fans in Seattle are almost overwhelming and make the Sounders a very tough team to beat at home. However, the Sounders aren’t at home for this one and instead have to play in Kansas City.

Sporting will be up for this match and the question is how prepared Seattle will be. The Sounders have been reeling and are in a spot they have never been before. It’s a long uphill battle for them to get back into the thick of things for the playoffs, and they need a result to start making progress.
