NFL Week 3 Ugly Dog Picks - Football Lines

NFL Week 3 Ugly Dog Picks

Are you ready for another week of ugly dog picks in the NFL? We are off to a sizzling start this season, as we were 5-1 last week and 3-1 in the opening week to make it 8-2 so far this season. Some of the best bets in the NFL each week are oftentimes wagers on teams that are considered the worst in the league. If you want to win money betting NFL games then you need to be willing to take teams no one else wants to bet. We refer to these teams as ugly dogs and you really have to hold your nose sometimes when you bet on them, but history has shown that going against the public works. We have had a lot of plays through the first two weeks, but we have just three this week. Let’s look at the NFL Week 3 Ugly Dog picks.

Week 3 Ugly Dog Picks

Let me point out one fact that you are probably already aware of. When you bet these games, you are usually better off waiting until Sunday morning to make your wagers because you will probably get a better number than what I list from earlier in the week.

Carolina Panthers +3 vs. New Orleans Saints

The Baker Mayfield era in Carolina has not gotten off to a good start, as the Panthers come into Week 3 winless on the season. It hasn’t been all Mayfield’s fault, as the Panthers actually had chances to win both of their first two games. The Panthers have struggled to move the ball effectively and it looks like they simply don’t have many playmakers. The defense hasn’t been anything special either. They are catching points at home this week against a New Orleans team that easily could be 0-2. The Panthers really only fit into the ugly dog category because they are winless and catching points, but we’ll take them this week.

Indianapolis Colts +7 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

It seems every week we have a team in this column that wasn’t expected to be here and this week it is the Colts. Most people thought the Colts would be a playoff team this season with the addition of Matt Ryan at quarterback, but Indianapolis has looked awful. There are still some people who believe in the Colts, despite their 0-2 start but it would be hard to play any worse than the Colts played last week in a loss to Jacksonville. Now the Colts have to take on the high-powered Kansas City Chiefs. This is definitely one of those games that fits into the ugly dog category, as the Colts have been awful, while the Chiefs have looked very good. We’ll take the Colts plus the points as an ugly dog.

Washington Commanders +7 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Another team that hasn’t looked very good this season is Washington. They could easily be 0-2, but they found a way to beat Jacksonville in Week 1. The Commanders have definite issues on the defensive side of the ball, as they can’t stop anyone. Washington gave up a lot of points in Week 1 to the Jaguars and last week the Lions scored 36 against them. We definitely know that the Eagles can score points, as their offense looks like one of the top ones in the NFL this season. Bettors are going to remember what the Eagles did to the Vikings on Monday night and it would not be surprising to see this number go higher. The public is going to back the unbeaten Eagles and go against a Washington team that looks weak. The one thing that could help Washington is that the Eagles will be playing with short rest and they could have a bit of a letdown coming off the marquee win against the Vikings on Monday night. We’ll take Washington plus the points as an ugly dog.
