WBO Lightweight Championship

Derry Mathews +600

Terry Flanagan -1200

Flanagan will make his second title defense against Mathews, who comes into the bout as a 6-to-1 underdog. The lightweight champ is coming off a KO victory over mandatory challenger Diego Magdaleno in a gross mismatch. Mathews is a much better fighter than Magdaleno, but his ranking is probably inflated a bit as is typical for the alphabet organizations.

When we first reported the odds a few weeks ago Matthews was at +500 and Flanagan’s line was -800. There’s obviously been a flood of action coming in on Flanagan, as a 400-point shift in that period of time is eye-opening. You might want to check the over/under and prop bets for this, as it’ll be tough to make money Flanagan’s money line.

IBF International Bantamweight Championship

Jose Santos Gonzalez +1200

Zolani Tete -5000

South African superstar and former IBF super flyweight champion Zolani Tete gets another crack at a title when he faces slugger Jose Santos Gonzalez for the vacant IBF bantamweight title. Tete has established himself as one of the most powerful punches in the division, notching 18 KOs in 22 wins.

This is a showcase fight for Tete, who is recognized as one of the best fighters from the African continent. He has lofty goals for becoming a multi-weight world champion, and Gonzalez looks like nothing more than speed bump for Tete.

Super Bantamweights

James Dickens +1200

Guillermo Rigondeaux -5000

A top-10 pound-for-pound fighter in a variety of major media outlets, Guillermo Rigondeaux gets a stay-busy fight against an unknown Brit in James Dickens. While Dickens will have the crowd in his favor, it’s likely the only thing he’ll have going in a matchup where he’ll be severely outclassed.

Don’t expect any sort of “Rocky” story here with Dickens. Rigondeaux is so good that he’s had trouble finding world class opponents. Should the Cuban keep winning in dominant fashion, he could force a high-profile matchup with Carl Frampton or Scott Quigg.
