NBA Wednesday, May 1, 2024 Parlay Picks

There are three games on the NBA playoffs schedule for Wednesday, May 1, however only two games might be played. This article was written before Game 4 of the Oklahoma City-New Orleans first round series and OKC could drop the curtain on Monday night. And the way the Thunder dominated the first three games there’s a pretty good chance the series ends there. So, with that being the case I’ll examine the other two games to use on my NBA parlay. The Celtics responded nicely to their Game 2 home loss to the underdog Miami Heat posting their second 20-point win of the series. Game 5 of that Eastern Conference series goes down at 7:30 p.m. ET on TNT.

With both teams reaching the 50-win mark during the season, a good team will be eliminated in the Clippers-Mavericks series. The clubs split the first four contests with each winning once on the road. Playing without Kawhi Leonard, the Clips were a 7-point underdog on Sunday. with the possibility of going down 3-1 in the series LA responded with a huge 116-111 win sending the series back to LA all even. The game will air on TNT at 10 p.m. ET.

With limited betting options playing two same game parlays is a betting strategy. I did that last Wednesday hitting one of my parlays when OKC beat the Pelicans 124-92. The Thunder looked like the top seeded team in the West winning Games 2 and 3 by a combined 53 points. Going back to the end of the regular season OKC is 6-1 against the NBA line and the Thunder were the second most profitable team during the regular season. If there is a Game 5 in OKC I’d back the Thunder. But let’s move ahead to the games we know will be played.

I backed Boston in Game 2 and Miami in Game 3 of their series getting it wrong both times. The Heat pulled a shocker winning in Boston last week making 23 three-point field goals in the 111-101 triumph as a 14-point dog. Some doubt may have crept into the minds of the Celtics, who were upset by the Heat in the East final last season. Miami was the No. 8 seed last year as well. The difference now is that the Celtics are a better team and Miami is playing the series without Jimmy Butler.

With a boost of confidence following their Game 2 win I thought the Heat would remain close in the next outing, especially at home. Boston made the proper adjustments and Miami cooled from deep. The result was another impressive C’s win. I don’t believe we’ll see Miami knock down nearly 55 percent of its triples and if they can’t Boston will cruise to another easy victory.

With a 3-1 series deficit staring them in the face, the Clippers responded without Leonard for a critical 116-111 win on Sunday to knot their series. Paul George and James Harden picked up the slack with each scoring 33 points. A concern was LA nearly blowing a 31-point lead, but they held on in the end. There is some star power in the series even without Leonard. George had an awful Game 3 scoring only seven points and Luka Doncic shot just 10 of 24 and 1 of 9 from distance on Sunday. We won’t see those guys play that poorly very often and if they do things right points are out there.

The teams are fairly evenly-matched but I do like LA’s depth. With Russell Westbrook and Norman Powell coming off the bench, the Clips have more options. And I like LA to get a crucial win covering the spread in the process while playing OVER a relatively small total.
