2018 CS:GO DreamHack Atlanta Betting Preview

It might be college football season, but next week some of the best CS:GO teams in the world will converge on downtown Atlanta with the aim of being named DreamHack champions. Seven of the eight teams involved have legitimate chances of winning, and it’s a crucial time for players to make their marks. We are largely in the offseason for most of Esports, but the CS:GO scene never sleeps and tournaments like these are a path to stardom for lesser-known players. There will also be a $50,000 prize for the team that wins the event.

2018 CS:GO DreamHack Atlanta Betting Odds

Team Vitality +300 Ghost Gaming +750
Complexity +400 eUnited +800
Luminosity Gaming +400 Rogue +1000;
Fragsters +550

Team Vitality are the favorites to take down the tournament, and this will be one of the first times we see the new team in action. This is one of the biggest Esports organizations in Europe, but they are only now branching out into CS:GO and this team was only formed a month ago. Still, having the resources of a top brand means that Vitality were able to attract top talent. They were able to grab NBK- and ApEX away from G2 and RpK from Envy, and they should be more talented than any other team at the competition. The question is whether or not that talent has had time to come together.

It hasn’t been a bad season for Complexity as they attempt to move back up the rankings in CS:GO. They were able to make it to the quarterfinals of the FACEIT Major in London two months ago, earning them a nice bit of cash, and they won the Americas Minor Championship in the same city two months before that. They have not been performing well in ECS Season 6 lately though, and they come into this competition with five straight match losses.

After losing their entire squad to SK Gaming two years ago, it has taken some time for Luminosity to get their feet back. They only have two placements of note over the past two years, grabbing seventh place in the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals and finishing second at DreamHack Valencia four months ago. Although they are one of the favorites here, I believe that is more from their brand name than anything else.

Fragsters are a team to keep an eye on. Although their trend lines are going down, they have the second-best ranking on HLTV of the teams at this event. They have continually threatened at two DreamHack tournaments earlier this year, and they are looking to break through now.

Ghost Gaming will be my pick to win it all. They have the highest rating of any team in Atlanta per HLTV, and they are finally starting to gel. Three members joined the team earlier this year, as well as new coach JamezIRL. The big key will be the play of Neptune. He joined the roster about six weeks ago, and the team won WSEG 2018 Canada shortly afterwards. They are hoping to grab an even bigger win in this one.

Finally, there’s eUnited. It’s been a bit of a mess for eUnited recently, and I’m surprised they aren’t a bigger longshot. They just benched -Ace and Relyks and added FNS and Cooper, so there will be plenty of things to work out. I would stay away from them at this price.
