La Liga Matchday 28 Odds Report

The big story coming into Matchday 28 in La Liga is the return of Zinedine Zidane. Real Madrid parted ways with one of the most decorated managers in club history this offseason after a power struggle with club president Florentino Perez. The club thought they could get similar results with Julen Lopetegui but sacked him after their worst El Clasico loss ever, and they looked to move on from Santi Solari after Real Madrid were knocked out of the Champions League after a 4-1 loss in the Bernabeu to Ajax. Real Madrid are the biggest favorite of the week with Zidane’s return.

March 15

Real Sociedad -106
UD Levante +296
Draw +255
Over/Under 2.5

The lone match on Friday is between two middle of the table teams that are likely safe from relegation. That being said, Levante are in worse shape than Real Sociedad are in need of a result. Levante have been shut out in two straight matches and have lost three in a row coming into Friday’s tilt. Meanwhile, Sociedad have lost two in a row, but they picked up a result in eight straight prior to that, and they are an outside contention for a place in Europe next season.

March 16

SD Huesca +149
Deportivo Alaves +194
Draw +214
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

Real Madrid -450
Celta Vigo +1028
Draw +549
Over/Under 3.5

CD Leganes +110
Girona FC +276
Draw +214
Over/Under 2

Athletic Bilbao +259
Atletico Madrid +126
Draw +195
Over/Under 2

Goals are going to be at a premium when Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid meet. Not only is the total the lowest we see in regular circumstances at two flat, the juice is shaded to the under too. Atletico Madrid have the best defense in La Liga, while Bilbao are one of the league’s best at picking up draws. They have rebounded well after a slow start to their season, and Bilbao have allowed just six goals in their last 10 matches. There have been just 15 goals total in those last 10.

Espanyol Barcelona +166
Sevilla FC +152

SD Eibar -163
Real Valladolid +456

Villarreal CF -172

Sunday will be moving day. Half of La Liga’s games this week are on Sunday, and there will be a lot at stake here.

Eibar will be out to close the gap on Getafe for a spot in the top four. They have been rock solid at home this season with a 7-5-2 record in the Ipurua, and they are facing the team with one of the longest losing streaks in the league in Real Valladolid. Valladolid have lost five of their last six, and now they are in danger of falling into the relegation zone with another loss.

Villarreal will be out to put some distance between themselves and the rest of the bottom. They are in 17th place and safe for the first time in weeks after a road win last week. They are big favorites against a Rayo Vallecano that are freefalling after six straight losses.

The league leaders are the biggest road favorites of the week, but playing on the road against Real Betis is always a challenge. However, the last game I want to focus on doesn’t involve Barcelona, but another team in the top four.

Getafe have a chance to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history. With just 11 matches left in the season, they are in fourth place and four points clear of Eibar. However, they will face a difficult test when they go on the road to face Valencia. Valencia have lost just four times in 27 matches this season, so three points will be difficult for Eibar.
