Soccer Odds - Tottenham vs. Manchester United Match Preview

2017-Soccer-Tottenham-vs.-Manchester-United-(NBCSN)-Betting-Lines

Even if Tottenham does find itself mathematically eliminated from title contention heading into its 36th match of the season – a very likely result given that Chelsea needs three points on Friday at West Brom to secure the championship – White Hart Lane supporters will surely give their Spurs a rousing tribute for one of the better seasons in the club's history and a great sendoff to WHL. What can't be lost in all of this? Manchester United still has a Top 4 spot that it can go claim, and this match might be the biggest deterrent to that for the rest of the campaign.

At 11:30 a.m. ET, tune into NBC Sports Network for live television coverage of this EPL match on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at White Hart Lane.

Odds Analysis

Had the Spurs still been equivocally in the Premier League race at this point, this line would be far greater than it is at -140. As it is, it's tough to see any circumstance in which Tottenham really is at full throttle after the long run-in to even threaten Chelsea. As it is, Manchester United has far more to play for in this last little stretch of the season, and that might show on the pitch.

Key Injuries

There's nothing really new on the injury front to discuss for Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino has been without Erik Lamela, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Danny Rose and Harry Winks for quite a while, but aside from these men, he'll have a full squad to choose from come Sunday.

Manchester United has far more issues to discuss. The latest is Ashley Young, who came off after just 10 minutes as a sub against Celta Vigo in the Europa League match last Thursday. He joins Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Timothy Fosu-Mensah on the touchline injured. Marouane Fellaini has been banned for this match after picking up a red card against Manchester City at the end of April.

Recent Form

It's hard to say that Tottenham is really in "poor" form at the moment. The Spurs went on the road and lost a match. It happens to the best teams in this league from time to time, and West Ham was a deserving winner last Friday for sure. That ended a nine-game winning streak that took the team firmly into the top two, and barring some tremendous collapse parlayed with a great run from Manchester City to Arsenal, Tottenham will finish second best.

United had its chance to make its run towards the Champions League, but alas, its loss at Arsenal probably relegates it to the Europa League once again – unless it happens to win the tournament this year, something that seems like the most likely option at this point. Alas, Jose Mourinho will still have his side believing that it can rally to run down poor formed Manchester City and Liverpool, though it's going to take winning these last three matches for sure to have any chance whatsoever.

Man U has failed to win three straight EPL fixtures, drawing at Manchester City on April 27 and drawing at home against Swansea 1-1 three days later.

The Red Devils surely have their young side on the pitch now, and the future definitely looks bright for this squad, particularly if James Rodriguez really does end up in Manchester next year as is rumored to be the case.

But for now, this is Tottenham's time. There's going to be too much goodness here for Tottenham to fail with, particularly here at home where the club is 16-2-0 and is ready to send the stadium off in style.

We just can't see momentum failing the Spurs here, particularly with Manchester United so banged up and in such horrid form.

EPL Odds: Tottenham 3, Manchester United 0
